Is it possible to ovulate twice?

The last couple of months I have been having two LH surges on my OPK's and the following days have been awful with cramping and achey ovaries... I am going to start charting my BBT this month though so I can see when my temp spikes. Anyone experience this?

Hey, from another forum i am one i have heard it is possible to ovulate twice, your body can release an egg from each side of your ovaries i believe, that's how twins are born, am sure there will be other ladies with more info on it than me though.

It is POSSIBLE, although it is not common. Depends on your hormones.... and other things. and what scottishgem said is true, that is how fraternal twins exist.

I think I am going to have to go to the doctor and get myself checked out...

I wouldn't be concerned. Just because you have two LH surges it doesn't mean that you ov twice. Your body can rev up to have an LH surge and then not end up ov the first time.... so it could be why u detect a second one....

All this stuff is so new to me. I am just starting to get the lingo down and figure out my cycle. I am going to try and track my BBT now along with the OPK's and see if I can get a better picture. Thanks for the help

Agreed, it is very possible to ovulated twice. My cousin had this happen to her and at first caused a bit of a confused conversation with the doctor lol. It is perfectly fine! In fact, you can even release up to 2 eggs at a time! Hence the result of non-identical twins

Don't stress too much over, but feel free to make a visit with your doctor to be on the safe side. Good luck!

I really hope the second surge is not when I ovulate because that would my my LP very very short

Thanks so much I will try not to stress too much! Every month is getting easier though. The first month, I was so obessive with it. But it is getting easier. This has been a great resource for me tho and awesome support. I am really grateful that a friend referred me! Baby dust to you all!
