As a background I have had a CVS at 13 weeks and the FISH came back 100% that we are not having a child with downs or ANY chromosomal defects, they also sent blood for nunans and other things and everything was negative. This was after a large NT and slight bleed at 12 weeks, pretty much since then though I am considered high risk. My dad had a stroke early in life so they also did clotting factors on me and I have a factor 5 deficiency but am only on 81mg ASA for now.

At 16 and 20 weeks the ultrasound was perfect they did an echocardiogram on the baby and the heart as well as all structures were perfect he was in the 40th percentile so we were released back for just measurement ultrasounds every 4 weeks with our reg OB. I was one of those where they had no explanation of the NT being large....

At my 24 week measurement ultrasound they found that his head is 54th percentile, belly 20th percentile but femurs 4th percentile so that puts him for growth in the 9th percentile. UGH..... now I have to go back to high risk doc in two weeks for another to see why, my doc said I have shorter femurs ( I am 5'6" but have a really long torso ) so it could be genetics...

I guess I just want to know if anyone else has been through or is going through this, honestly at this point I just want to cancel all appts and deliver when I am due cause its all just for worry and they never find anything. I wont because of my factor 5 deficiency of course I need to do whatever they tell me as not to harm my baby but I am frustrated.

My mom never had an ultrasound at all so I have nothing to compare this too as far as genetics, seems like now days we might just know too much!!!!

Hi
Sorry you are having such a naff time at the moment! Some people have smaller babies.. I am sure there was a lady on here and they thought her baby had some form of dwarfism based on his limb length.. turns out he didn't he was just abit smaller than average and born perfectly normal! I think sometimes they are very over cautious. I would say stick to your guns if you have slightly shorter femurs your baby is prob just taking after your genetic makeup.....Honestly i think that they put mums under a lot of uneccessary worry sometimes... I would still attend your appointments tho but take everything with a massive pinch of salt!

We got put in v high risk for DS and had to have an amino... all came back clear and the worry and stress it caused was horrible... xxx

Like you our baby came back high risk for down syndrome - 1/97. The NT measurement was PERFECT though.

We had a level II ultrasound a week or so after the results to see if there were any down syndrome markers and they said that the head and femurs were slightly smaller than they should be - which is a marker for downs of course.

I worried and WORRIED. I refused to get an amnio because of the risk, so instead I just get to worry it out, but it's worth it to me. A month later we had another ultrasound and they said everything looked great and that there is no reason to worry. I had a HUGE bleed at 14 weeks, so they are thinking that the blood test results and the growth of the baby were thrown off because of that huge bleed. I had a very large subchorionic hemmorhage, and I guess that can stall growth a little. the baby's measurements are still on the lower side... more so just an average measurement, but I'm guessing I'm just having a smaller baby.

Anyways, I wouldn't worry. Like the person said above, some people just have small babies. And also, babies go through huuuuge growth spurts. There is no way to know for sure that your baby won't catch up.

Message me if you ever need to talk! I know what you are going through :)

Hi hun

When I was carrying my son everything seemed fine and went swimmingly until inhad to go for a scan at 28 weeks due to my waters leaking and they did the measurements but he measured behind on his dates and the also pointed out he had short femur bones I still have the scan pics! Well I then had to go back two weeks later to have a scan with a consultant, the silly sonographer at the time had put loads of thoughts of disability in my head which I found very unprofessional all it turned out to be in the end was down to genetics my son takes after his grandpa( my dad is 6th but only has a 29inch inside leg) and my lil man came out healthy no problems he just has a long body and grows out he's tops before bottoms :)
