. . . that getting pregnant straight away after having a miscarriage can lead to another mc? i keep reading conflicting information on the internet. we are trying straight away, before having af, and although i know i probably won't get pregnant, i am now getting worried that i might, and then i might have another mc.

does anyone have any experience of pregnancy straight after a miscarriage and whether it had a happy ending or not?

thank you xx

I heard about that too and it scared me - we still had sex but we were not actively trying during that time.

I think it may have been true in my case because my first period was so short like there was not enough lining to sustain a new pregnancy. Now my 2nd cycle has been completely normal. So for me at least it was better to wait one cycle.

Then again there are always exceptions...so it's just hard...I would still wait one cycle to be safe.

Hi Hun,
No experience as you can see from my other post but I don't think getting pg straight away after having a mc can lead to another mc. A few ladies on here have got pg before having AF after their mc and given birth to healthy babies. I think the main reason doctors tell you to wait until after your first AF is for dating purposes.

Good Luck, fingers crossed for your :bfp: xx

There was something on BBC news a couple of months ago about this. The specialist who was on there said that there is no evidence that getting pg straight after a mc would lead to another one. He also said that you can be more fertile after a mc and you can start trying straight away.

I had a mc 2 weeks ago and asked my GP if this was true and he said it was. But you're right about there being so much conflicting info. There's probably other doctors who would disagree with him.

I have a friend who tried straight away after her first m/c and went along to have a healthy, beautiful baby girl. I'm not sure about statistics, but I do know that having a healthy pregnancy trying right away is possible.

I think the concern about trying right away is the recovery of the uterus from the m/c. It also may depend on how far along you were when you m/c. That's why I think its best to talk to your doctor about the risks involved for you, and then make the decision that is most comfortable to you.

My doctor suggested we wait one cycle to let my body recover, and we decided to follow that advice. For me, it was the best choice as it gave me some time to chance some of my routines to reflect a more healthy lifestyle and be better prepared next time around!

Good luck to you!

I am thankful for this thread as right before I entered the TTC after a lodd forum I was googling this same thing...couldn't find an answer and gave up and decided to browse BnB....and then I stumbled upon this thread!! =)

My doctor said he suggests that people wait until their 2nd cycle...he said that he read an article a while back that said that ttc immediately after a mc could result in another mc, he said he couldn't remember the name of the study and hasn't found it since, but because he read that he recommends that just in case there is any truth to it (better safe then sorry i guess??). I was looking for something to support or refute this article he spoke of. I have mostly found that the biggest reason to not try before that first cycle is because it would be hard to know how far along you are..

I know I don't really want to wait until my first cycle to TTC again, i am just too impatient!! I want it NOW! The doc told me that after giving birth most women don't ovulate until 26 days after, he wasn't positive what that number was for someone that mc'd (I guess since it is hard to say, since some women don't ovulate at all until their first cycle?).

I can certainly understand where you are! Part of me wants it right now, and part of me is so afraid to get it right now- just in case!

I just want to be pregnant during christmas like I am supposed to be

I say let nature take its course - you can just be relaxed between the M/C and 1st cycle and do what feels good and natural...you don't have to time sex perfectly...whatever happens happens...if it's meant to be it is meant to be.

GOOD LUCK HON!

me too im too impatient! i also dont want to miss the super fertile window that you are meant to have after a mc. i guess we will keep on dtd every other day and see what happens. hpts still pos at the mo though, so poor dh is going to be exhausted by the time af arrives!

That's exactly what my dh and I talked about doing! i am just glad he and i are on the same page! He admitted that emotionally he isn't ready to actively try, but he doesn't want to prevent either.

I conceieved on clomid after my mmc but it didnt work out for me but I have 3 friends who have lovely healthy babies nearly here who were concieved within 3 months after mc and one friend who has a lovely son of 6 motnhs and she concieved the mc cycle

fingers crossed for you x

I agree that there is so much conflicting information - but that seems to be in all areas of TTC onwards!
I know it's a little different, but after ectopic surgery I was told to wait at least 3 months. This was not only to recover from surgery but they said to let the cycles return to normal.
I think it also depends on how far along you are before you MMC...if it was around the time your period was due anyway maybe it's less risky than later when you've got a thicker lining?
I don't really know, those are just my thoughts...I'm sure a lot of people on here know a lot more than me :)

Sadly this happened to me :(
I feel pregnant straight after my 1st mc with no period inbetween & sadly i lost that baby too, at the exact same time (8+6 weeks).
But i have a friend who fell straight after a mc & is now due to give birth on boxing day!!!
So i dont really know, but i know this time ive waited for 1 af after my 2nd mc & we are ttc again now in fact ive just got my positive opk today:):):)

Congrats on your +opk - good luck with your next bfp!

I had a M/c fell pregnant again right away with no AF in between and had another M/C..My doc made me promise I would wait until after my AF this month to start trying again ..

There was a new study about this that came out in August. If you google "No need to wait" Getting pregnant after miscarriage it should come up. I would link it, but I guess I need to post 10 times before they allow links. Hope that helps!
