I do it all the time I usually put my turkey on about 11am on Chrsitmas morning then go out visiting until about 1pm and let it cook away. x

Yep perfectly safe! I do this with most joints of meat too during the year

I normally cook my turkey for 2 hours on christmas eve then the rest christmas day

this year just gonna do it all christmas dat as I got a turkey crown

why do people cook their turkeys for so long Is it not mega dry?!

I use nigellas brining recipe and i only need to cook it in the oven for a 12lb turkey for 2.5 hours

But some people are cooking 20lb+ turkeys so we are going to need a lot longer than 2.5hrs and you said yours cooks quicker because you brine it, alot of people dont, so again it will take longer. My turkey was 20lbs last year and we cooked it for 5-6 hours and it was just perfect, not dry at all. Plus mine is stuffed so again it will take a bit longer. I honestly have to say in the whole 13 years I have been cooking Turkey at Christmas never once has it been dry, I will admit one year it was still raw after 5 hours but thats a whole other story !!! lol
