Is it too cold?

Pinklightbulb, oil filled ones are fine for little ones rooms. They dont suck the oxygen out of the air like those horrible gas ones. Weve used it since she was born. You get ones that will cut off when it reaches a certain temperature (thats what i have.) x

We have this one (not sure if you can search for the same thing where you are)

$1.30 a litre here.

OMG It's $1.45 up here!

Ooh that is worth looking into. Would it be safe to have one in a toddler's room do you think?

It has a 'trip' so if the heater falls over it automatically switches off. I think it'd be safe in toddlers room, you might just have to teach them not to touch it :) oh and it has a timer too, hth

Really?? Where are you?

Yes my worry is him putting something over it. If I took the doona off his bed I should be fine and he knows not to touch hot, so hopefully we're onto a winner!

Feeling much better now :) I was always told they were real power-hogs, worse than fan heaters, but if not, the fan heaters are going, lol.

in winter my room drops to 10 degrees some night and i just cosy my son up in his sleep bag, and a long vest and sleepsuit with the bits that go over his hands. hes lovely and warm!x

I'm up near the QLD boarder on the coast. Had my friend up from Melbourne on the weekend and she couldn't believe the price of fuel and gas. I don't know why its so expensive.

We have the fire place but even fire wood is expensive, so I guess you can't win lol x

Ok now Im worried Im overheating my lo! Our place has been getting down to 16 at night lately and I've been heating it up to 20! is that too warm???

Haha after reading this thread I've put her down and turned the heater off! Room only gets down to 16/17 absolute minimum so hopefully she won't freeze??

Petrol was $2.11 here last time we got any! I live in a small town in a pokey 2 bedroom flat and it's $270/week. My mum lives in a total dump but because it's in a suburb close to Auckland she's paying $350/week.

Back to the warmth thing, it's 6am here and Sophie and I feel cosy, it's about 10 degrees and she's in a body suit (vest) and sleepsuit and feels warm, we are having a cuddle in bed.

My lo won't wear any sleep suits that don't have her legs free to move, and won't keep her covers on. Any suggestions for sleep suits with legs?

Where abouts are you? I've seen sleepsuits with legs, in fact I own two pairs. I got mine from either Best and Less or Kmart.

It's a common misconception that cold will cause you to catch a cold, but it is true that being cold for longer stretches will cause your immune system to dip and make you more susceptible to colds and viruses :)

However since you said LO sleeps fine and you have him all wrapped up I wouldn't worry!

20° won't overheat your baby, that sounds lovely and comfy. It gets ridiculous over here and our bedroom got up to 25-28° last year so LO just slept in her nappy D: It's icky but fine.
