Is my 5 month old ready for weaning?

I want to wait until she is 6mnths to do baby led weaning but sge is feeding every 2hours during the day over last 3/4 days.

She has also started sleeping through the night this week so maybe she is just making up for her missed night feed?
Everything i read says its ok to just give them more milk feeds if they want them before 6 mnths, no need to wean early.

She was 6 weeks prem which another reason i am holding out on weaning to make sure she is developmentally ready for weaning.
Bit dont want to hold her back if she is ready/needs more?

Feeding every 2 hours and sleeping through are not signs that baby is ready for weaning. I don't know about weaning premature babies, but unless there is something in the prem baby weaning guidelines that suggests you need to wean her before 6 months I wouldn't wean her now and certainly not based on her changes in feeding habits (feeding every 2 hours during the day is 'normal' anyway, even if your LO usually goes longer).

She's more or less at an age where you could try BLW if you wanted to. If she's not ready, she won't be able to eat! My oldest started BLW from 24 weeks (her choice not mine, I wanted to wait but she stole food and ate it) and she ate just as well as my youngest who started at 26 weeks.

Yeah i have read this before but still not sure it gives much details of how prem baby weaning differs from normal weaning

Thanks for all ur comments. Think i will give it a couple of days and then maybe speak to the health visitor for advice.

She would normally go 3 hours in between feeds but is wanting it every hour or so now. I am making her wait at least 2hours tho

I spoke to health visitor today about lo's feeding she recommended starting her on purees now. Different advice i heard from another health visitor last month who said no need for purees.

Aargh! Why do health professionals differ in their advice???? It makes it so hard to know what is the best/right thing to do!!
