Is my baby in pain or is he just a terrible sleeper?

LO has always been a bad sleeper. He will be 8 months Thursday. On a good night he's up 2-3 times to eat, and will go right back to sleep. Last night was terrible. He was up at least every hour screaming bloody murder. He wouldn't eat and just seemed in pain. I gave him some Tylenol at 4 and he slept until 6 after that but even today he's been a bit off.. I'm dreading tonight. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Sounds like pain/discomfort. He could be teething. Does he have any other teeth yet? It could also be something like an ear infection or illness because those can be worse when lying down so they feel a lot worse at night.

He has three bottom teeth. He got the center bottom ones at 4 1/2 months and his lower bottom one poked through last week. He doesn't have a fever, or anything too concerning yet. He was diagnosed with pink eye Friday, but it seemed to get better over the weekend, just a small amount of boogery eyes today but no pink. He went down "for the night" about twenty minutes ago. I guess we will see how this goes.
