I have just had to stop breastfeeding, and have just started my LO on Aptamil easy digest. She is drinking 120-150mls every two hours, is this too much????? The guidelines say every 4 hours, and we try to distract her but she will scream the place down every 2 hours to the dot and then gulp like we havent fed her for a week!!!
During the night she is better and feeds every 3 hours.
Are we overfeeding her?

Hey Scally!! Joe has 5-6oz every 3 hours during the day, which I thought was a huge amount too & then the same amount during the night, but sometimes he'll stretch it to every 4-5 hours (if we're lucky lol!!). Spoke to the health visitor today and she said that it was fine and that we're not overfeeding him.
He seems to take what he wants from a bottle and stops when he's done, so I just feel that he'll take what he needs. We did try to stretch out his feeds, but he screamed so much, we decided to feed him when he's hungry, rather than on a set schedule and it seems to be working.
Hope that helps. Maybe speak to your Health Visitor if you're worried hun x

Thanks Vicks, we seem to be having the same set of worries don't we? I'll see how it goes, and then speak to HV, she has only been on formula a little while. Hows all with you?

We do seem to have the same worries!! We're doing ok. Joe has good days when he sleeps, well like a baby lol and then days when he's awake all the time and cries alot. The Health visitor checked him yesterday and he's fine, so we think it is a bit of colic. I really need to start catching up on my sleep when he sleeps as I'm getting pretty exhausted, but apart from that, we're doing well.

How are you??

Happy 1 month birthday to Elizabeth!! Wow, time does fly :)

You'll probably find her feeding slows down a bit soon. Ruby was having about 100ml every 2 hours at that stage, and going 6 hour stretches at night, so I thought nothing of it. By 6 weeks she was easily lasting 3 hours between feeds. I don't really subscribe to the idea that you can overfeed a baby that young.
