I've read so many different ways of doing it I'm beginning to wonder if I'm doing it safely or not!

I prepare the bottles each morning usually, with freshly sterilised bottles and boiling water. We use SMA gold

I then put the ready made bottles directly into the fridge at the very back. As an when I need a bottle I take it from the fridge and warm it in a jug of boiling water. I make sure I never keep them more than 24 hrs

If I am going out like today I just get them from the fridge and put them in my changing bag in the bottle insulator thing. Then when it gets to feed time I ask for some hot water to warm them if they're still cold

It sounds fine although I think you are supposed to use boiled water that has cooled a bit to 70 degrees or above. I don't know if it is "wrong" to use actual boiling water but it will certainly kill any germs.

I have allways put the water in the bottels then in to the frige then when we need them worm the water and add the milk that way you don't wast alot if they don't have all the bottels in 24 hrs.

I make the bottles the same way you do, except I rapid cool them by submerging them in cold water before they go in the fridge because you shouldn't really put hot things in the fridge as it causes the fridge temp to rise. I rapid cool them rather than leave them on the side to cool so that any bacteria has less chance to multiply. Of course many people will tell you that the correct and safest way to make bottles is to make them all from fresh. I'm sure this true but it isn't very practical. I also just grab a couple out the fridge if I am going out.

I do exactly the same as you except I make mine at night at the moment - just the way it worked out! I've been doing it for 4 months with no problems x

I make mine the same way as Jin. Rapid cool them in cold water then put them in the fridge.x

i am planning on doing the same, i will probably make fresh if i can (during the day) but for night feeds or when i am going out for the day it's just not practical!

this way is a lot safer than adding the formula to cold water as formula is not sterile and so needs to be added to water that is over 70c, adding the formula to cooled boiled water is really not safe.

i also agree with the rapid cooling, don't put the hot bottles in the fridge, put in a pot of very cold water then into the fridge once cool.

You could put them in a jug of ice cold water and then put the bottle and the jug in the fridge to cool to save travelling backwards and forwards but you should definately rapid cool them before putting in the fridge. Otherwise it sounds fine. If you are going out for the day the bottles need to have been in the fridge for at least 4 hours and should be used within 2 hours of being removed from the fridge regardless of whether they are kept in a change bag or insulation bag. You could prolong it by using a cool bag with ice blocks in which case the bottles will keep for 4 hours out of the fridge.
