I was just wondering and asking if any one who's done their research on formulas have found one brand to be the 'best'? I just insticntly bought aptamil and assumed it was the best cos it was the most expensive :dohh:

I've done no research on formulas or anything as I planned to BF so I'm a bit clueless. Just want to make sure we're getting the healthiest one for LO.

So which would you say is best? Aptamil, SMA, Cow and Gate, Hipp or any others?

Thanks :D

I have used Aptamil with my LO since she was born. She is now 10 weeks and doing fab, never had a days problem with it. Each baby is different though. My LO gets on well with it but there are others that dont so it just depends on how your little one gets on with it.

I'm pretty sure they're all legally obligated to be nutrionally equal. But how they're formulated can aqree or disagree with different baby's digestive systems differently, so sometimes you have to experiment with that.

But they are all regulated to have the same nutrients, so you don't have to worry about an inferior product in that regard.

I'm planning on using aptimil this time, with my first I used sma gold and it made her so sick. I was advised to use aptimil and she was perfectly fine after the switch :)
So aptimil for me

I'd personally say organic things are superior to non-organic. So I use Hipp organic and it agrees with him well.

Table 7 on page 39 in this report compares different formulas and might help you decide, it shows that all the first stage milks are all very similar:
https://www.firststepsnutrition.org/pdfs/FSNT_Infant milks_WEB.pdf

There are slight differences in what is considered organic, halal, suitable for vegetarians or vegan, and there is information about specialist milks.

There is no 'best' brand - once something is firmly established as beneficial, it is added to all types of milk. There are always changes in the milk and tests of new substances that are thought to be beneficial, but this is all testing and not something you can base a decision on.

I've used cow & gate since my little girl was born, had no problems at all :) think it's just what is best for your baby x

all the formula brands contain the same basics according to the guidelines - but some suit babies more than others. I know a lot of people slate SMA but both my boys are and have been fine on it. They are both big eaters, and need the heaviness it provides in order to be filled up for more than 1 hour! lol Having said that I've never really tried any other formula brands as I reached for the SMA as I was an SMA baby lol. I guess we have our own brand loyalties.
