I was wondering if there is an alternative to the nipple cream that you put on to help sooth and ease the pain associated with breastfeeding and expressing? You know the goo they send you home with from the hospital?

My baby girl absoutley hates the taste of the stuff, and even after I wash it away with a clean wet rag (although it says it is safe and you do not have to) she still will fight and make "this is disgusting" faces at me for the first 15 minutes before giving up and suckling anyway.

If I have not put any on that day or in a couple of feedings she does great. No problems what so ever with breastfeeding. So I am guessing it is the cream.

Is it safe to use coconut oil or olive oil or something?

Thanks! <3

Try expressing a bit of breast milk and rubbing it over your nipples and let it air dry. I didn't like the idea of baby ingesting creams either.

I've always used lanisoh?sp & Wilkinson own brand nipple cream & both work brilliantly.
I only put them on after a cluster feeding session as nips feel sore & within an hour not sore anymore.
baby doesn't seem to notice anything.

Yep ur own breast milk, lansinoh is the only one I no that u can put on before a feed n thers ment to be no taste to it but if that's the one ur using then ul just have to rub breast milk in n air dry x
