My LO has just started STTN which is great. Should I try to limit his naps during the day so that he continues? Is there any truth to that? I'm getting all kinds of advice. How long should a 3month old be sleeping in a 24hr period?

i think the rule is the better the daytime sleep, the better they are at night! so keep naps as normal
my LO sleeps LOADS in the day and has always slept well (minus the 4 month sleep regression :haha: )

Omar used to sleep around 18-19 hours day & night at that age. He couldnt stay awake for more than 1 hr between naps & he used to sleep through for 12-13 hrs at night. Sleep is good for development hun. xx

my doctor told me 15 hours a day at our 4 month appointment.
We're not trying to force that though, we just let him sleep. We DO wake him up after a nap if its been 2 hours, but thats more because of the timing of his bedtime.. if he sleeps too long at one nap, he will run into an issue where his bedtime will be just too long after his last nap for him to make it, but not long enough to squeeze another nap in so he can last.

Some days he only sleeps 14 hours, some days he sleeps 16. Try not to stress too much on the details, find what works for you and as long as he's happy and you can manage his schedule the way you want to (if you do), then let him sleep and enjoy the alone time :)

STTN nice!

Arianna just started to but i think cause i co sleep she woke up more

she been in her crib this week sleeps from 8-30-4-30 wakes up eats then i bring her to bed with me and she sleeps till 8am not to bad lol

i miss her at night tho :( i want to cuddle with her

Yes there is "too much day sleep" but not at your LO's age - as he becomes a toddler, too late of a last nap can interfere with bedtime but that's not something to worry right now.

At your LO's age, more sleep = more sleep. A 3 month old generally shouldn't be awake more than 1.5-2 hours (more towards 1.5), however long they want to sleep is no problem.

I find the better my LO naps, the better she sleeps at night

Sophia slept for 11 hours last night. Woke up at 9am, played for 15 minutes or so, I fed her, and she was back asleep by 10:15. She sleeps more during the morning time than she does as the day goes on. Which I think that's why she sleeps so good at night.

my LO has always been a terrible day napper, X3 20-30mins naps durring the daytime, ive never been able to get him to nap for longer either!.

however, hes always slept well durring the nights!!. he used to STTN until 4 months hit but even so generally only wakes up once in the night.
