Is this a girl or boys name & what do you think?

My hubby asked me today if I like the name ' Avalon ' but he wasn't sure if it would be a girls or boys name, any ideas?
I think of it as having nn Ava which makes me think its a girls name.
Does it have any links to mythology or anything else? & what do you think to it?

it sounds feminine to me. Avalon comes from the Arthurian legend, it is the place where king Arthur took shelter, so does come from Celtic mythology. This gives a bit more of explanation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avalon, I think it is a lovely name and could probably be male or female. I always liked the name Morgan from the Arthurian legends to (me and my sister were told the stories as children)
