Okay... So I always liked the name Dorothy. Then DH and I started talking about the nickname Dot... And we decided that we both really like "Dottie" as a name. I think it is such a lovely name! And so does DH.

We both like unusual names and DH is a teacher (and I am halfway through my degree) so we want a name that a naughty student isn't going to ruin for us.

Do you think that the name Dottie is too strange?
We also like the name Lola but am a little worried it is going up in popularity recently.

Thanks for your opinions or advice :flower:

Love it! We are actually planning on trying to use it as a middle name if our 4th is a girl

Thank you! Do you think Dottie is okay for an older woman?

Dottie is cute but to me it sounds more like a nickname. I would name her Dorothy to give her the choice of a more 'professional' name when she is an adult.

Oh i love the name Dottie so cute plus i think it works for all ages.

My grandma's name was Dorothy and always went by Dottie (or 'Aunt Dot' since a lot of people knew her through her nieces). It was such a popular name back then, I'm surprised it hasn't made more of a comeback now. i would consider it as a first or middle name.

Thank you everyone, you have really put my mind at ease! :) <3

... Now if only dh and I could agree on a boys name haha

Dottie is very cute, but for me Lola is one of those names that I've loved for a long time. I really don't think it's that popular. X

I would use Dorothy and then have Dottie as a nickname. And yes I think it's okay for an older lady, the only Dottie I've ever known is my great aunt who's in her 80s so it's actually a very 'old' name to me (which isn't a bad thing - I love old lady names!). But I think Dorothy is beautiful and I've always liked more formal names with cute nicknames.

Not unusual at all :-), very sweet name. I know a Dorothy who is 26 and everyone calls her Dot or Dottie.

Thank you girls! :) still so confused whether to go with Dorothy or Dottie. Husband likes just Dottie... But I don't want her to resent not having a "real" name when she's older, you know?

Dottie is great for all ages. I worked with an older Dottie and it suited her. And threw probably won't be any Dotties when she goes to school! That's a plus!
And good luck with the boys name. ...I find those the hardest

It's cute. Definitely goes with they "Old Lady Name" trend that is coming back around. =)

Mine and OH's grandmothers are both Dorothy, when mine was younger she would go by Dottie when she was older she went by Dot. DHs has always been Dot. My other Grandmother was Doris, but also went by Dot/Dottie. So I think it works for all ages!

I also like the name Lola, but my dog is Lola Palooza, so that's out for us :)

Its old skool, but I like it, most importantly you and your dh love it, and truly that's all that really matters.
