Dottie is cute for a nickname.

Personally, I don't like Dorothy. It was my grandmothers name & my mums name. My mum changed her name because she hated it so much! And I think that has kind of swayed me toward not liking it

I like both. I do prefer Lola but dottie is cute, only problem is I can't imagine a teenager or young adult having this name x

By me if you call someone dottie it means they are a bit crazy and a bit forgetful, lol. But Dorothy would give her the choice to be dot or Dorothy or dottie when she grew up. I always think does a name sound ok as a Dr, lawyer or teacher? Dorothy is fine

I think Dorothy is fine. If you want the nickname Dottie, you can also go with Dorothea or Theodora, and then she'd have the option of Dora or Thea when she grows up. Though I guess she could get either of those from Dorothy too, if she really wanted to. I think it fits well with the trend of older names coming back into fashion.
