Is this normal after ERPC?

Hi everyone,
Sorry to ask for details, but I had ERPC on Tuesday (under local, yuk) and the doctor said I would have 'end of period' like bleeding for 3 or 4 days. It's 5 days now, it feels like my ovaries are still kind of stabbing, I'm still bleeding and yesterday passed huge ...... which was both unexpected and distressing. Is this just bad luck and will it pass soon? Or should I go back to get checked. Just wondering if anyone had any experiences like this.

Sorry for you loss. I just had my second D&C in six months 12 days ago. After my first, I bled for 5 weeks....passing huge clots the whole time. My recovery was not normal, but the doctors assured me there was nothing wrong. It seems that I'm having a similar recovery this time. It will be 2 weeks on Tuesday and I'm still bleeding heavily, cramping and passing huge clots. I'll see my doctor this week, but I'm sure he'll say the same thing. If the bleeding does not stop two weeks post D&C you should be seen by a doctor. If you have a fever or feel like you have the flu, then get checked out too.

I'm sorry you've had to go through this twice - poor you. Thanks also for the info - still passing huge clots this morning but I'm less worried now I know it happens to other people. I'll give them a ring, as I'm off to Japan for work for 2 weeks on Friday but I'm sure it's just my body helping out!

I didn't have a D&C and bleeding lasted 5 days (only the 1st day was super heavy)...I think both ways natural or with a procedure though that miscarriages will be a little bit different for each woman depending on how far along we were and each woman's body's reaction to a miscarriage.

I'm so sorry for your loss hon - it's the hardest thing.

I'd say you are probably fine right now...5 days of bleeding and passing clots is not excessive. As long as it's not super super heavy (soaking a pad in less than a 1/2 hour) then you should be fine. You could always get a scan but I would just wait at least another week and see how you are doing then.

Hi Hun,
It was the same for me. I was passing blood and clots for 6 days then the bleeding stopped for 5days and then started again for another 2 days. I was very shocked as well - they tell you it will be light bleeding and no clots which is not the case. I was really worried until I came on here and saw alot of people had the same thing happen to them.
