Finley has been on solids since he was 4 months old (due to medical reasons) and since 6months he's been having 3 meals a day along with his milk.
This is our routine

7am wake up
7.30am - 8oz bottle
8am - breakfast: porridge or weetabix
12pm - 8oz bottle
12.30pm -Lunch: sandwich & a yoghurt plus some fruit
4.30pm - 8oz bottle
4.45pm - Tea - whatever we have.
7pm - 8oz bottle

Reading that back he has a hell of a lot of food during the day.
lately he has been messing about with his milk, not really drinking it & maybe only drinking 4-5oz but on the odd occasion he'll drink the full 8oz.

What i want to ask is would it be ok to drop the 4.30pm feed & maybe give him tea at around 3.30pm & then giving him his bedtime bottle at 7pm
or would I be better to keep the 4 feeds but give him 8oz in the morning & at night & his 2 other feeds just give him 5oz???

its so confusing

I'm with you on confusion - my LO is identical except for the past 10 days hasn't finished one 8oz bottle and has once done without the afternoon bottle.

sometimes she will eat all her bottles sometimes hardly any.

I think they should be having less milk - would love to hear more!

Thanks for your reply x

Its confusing because the guidelines are that they should be having a certain amount of milk a day but if he doesnt want that much what can I do??

H has roughly the same routine except he is breastfed first thing and at bedtime. The two bottles he has, mid morning and mid afternoon, he takes a max of 6oz, sometimes less. I think as long as they don't seem hungry in between, and they are sleeping ok, and their weight is ok, does that mean they are ok?

well no milk went in at bedtime today.

OH thinks we need to drop a bottle - but got to choose whether it is afternoon or bedtime - think it will be bedtime. She screams now if we try to give her a bedtime bottle!

So hard to know what is best

We started weaning at wk 20. Omar's schedule is:

11:30-12:00 pm 30 oz water then cereals or porridge
1:30 pm 6 oz bottle
4:30-5:00 pm veggies or yogurt
6:00-6:30 pm 6 oz bottle
9:00 pm fruit jar
10 pm 6 oz bottle
12:00 am 3 oz bottle then bedtime - he sleeps through until 11:30-12 without feeds in between

As we've been travelling for 1 mnth now, he goes to bed late compared to his bedtime at home which is usually 9:30-10 pm.
