Went for scan the other day and the baby came out spot on with dates at 11 weeks 1 day, but it measured 10.8cm from crown to rump. Looking around it seems that that is a lot larger than the average for a baby of that gestation. Has anyone had a scan at around 11-12 weeks and had a similar length. Really worried now that something is wrong with the baby.

should be around 4cm.... nearly 2 inch..

Is that your first scan? Are you 100% sure of your dates?

This is my third scan as I paid for 2 to go privately as initially wasnt sure of dates. The first came up as I was 5 weeks pregnant and the second at 8 weeks 1 day, which meant that i was exactly 11 weeks 1 when I had my scan on the NHS. Surely they couldnt have got it wrong?

Just looked again at the scan and there are 3 numbers at the top of the picture. It says:
3.2/10.8cm/46Hz
What does this mean - have I read it wrong and am looking at 10.8cm instead of 3.2? Panicing now

when i had my dd she was 6.8cm at my 13 weeks scan did they not say anythng at the scan about babies size
as crl would be used to measure age too and i would have thought they would have questioned your dates hun>

the 3 sounds about right... is the 10 your uterine measurement??

I hope it is that the 3.2 is the baby and 10.8 is the uterine size. Thank you all for trying to reassure me. Just tried to phone hospital to ask them but no one there.

I think the 10cm will def be the size of everything around the baby... I wouldnt worry yourself lol.. honestly.

the 10 is prob the sac measurment did you not get a report with your scan to give ur mw if so babies size would be on the as crl

Easier said than done - bloody google! I cant keep away from it and was only checking what my baby will be now doing as 12 weeks tomorrow and read that the baby will be the size of a plum, looked at scan pic and panicked!! I had only just stopped worrying about everthing else too - i'll be grey by the time i give birth!!

You must have gotten confused about the measurement (overall size vs actual fetus size), I'm sure if the baby was 10cm at a confirmed 11 weeks, the ultrasound technician would have grabbed a doctor or something! And yes you'll be grey, I guess it is the price we all pay for becoming moms!

The measurements at the top of the scan pics are not the baby CTR measurements. Look at the notes you got with the scan, not the numbers on the picture as these are not your measurements. Plus they usually give you the measurements in mm. The measurement should be on the piece of paper they stuck in your notes. I am pretty sure you do not have a 10cm baby in there at 11 weeks!

At 11 weeks + 6 my baby was 51mm.

Thank you for all your replies. I am going to phone and speak to my midwife tomorrow as the NHS scan they didnt give me any paperwork like I got when I went privately. I feel a bit more reassured now, and I think that someone would have realised that the baby been nearly 11cm at 11 weeks!

She just said everything is fine. Now feeling calmer as 3.2 is in the range for an 11 week baby and 10.8 cm is about a third of the size that your uterus grows too by the end of pregnancy. Sorry for all the panic. Now Ive thought about it, I can see that if there was something wrong they would have got someone else to look at the scan, especially if I had a 10.8cm baby at 11 weeks!! I know Ive put on weight but I havent eaten that much!!

Are you sure you didn't get any paperwork with your scan? Check inside your notes. Mine was attached to a sheet of paper inside and I didn't notice it immediately.

The numbers at the top of the scan I think are to do with the scanning equipment. Mine say 1.1/6.5cm/31hz. My baby didn't measure 6.5cms or 1.1 so they are def nothing to do with the baby hun x
