Is your 4 to 5 month old doing this?

I ask because this is quite different from my first. Leo was struggling to "crawl" and managed to scoot forward on his belly to get to toys just out of reach. He also got up on his forearms and knees several times. He wasn't able to hold the position, but he was able to use it to move forward on his way down. My first didn't do this at this age and was pivoting on her belly and army crawling before trying to get her belly off the ground. So it leaves me wondering if I'm going to have an early crawler as he's already relatively on the move. What's your experience?

Thomad did this at that age, but didn't crawl until a day before 6 months. He was up on his hands and knees going backwalks around the room getting really frustrated at 5 months.

Mine never did any pivoting. She went straight from pushing up on her arms to army crawling, which she did for two weeks before she learnt to crawl at 8 months! She's walking now.

6 months is pretty early.

My LO was getting up on hands and knees at about 4.5-5 months, and succeeded in crawling forwards at just over 5.5 months. She pulled up to stand a week later, and walked at 8.5 months :haha:

I could see Leo crawling in a month. As for walking, the jury is still out. Some babies crawl for many many months while others progress quickly. Leo doesn't show as much interest in standing as Violet did. She enjoyed "standing" from birth. When she did crawl (starting at 7.5 months), it wasn't long before she was basically just using it as a means to get to something to pull up on to cruise. She started taking independent steps at 10.5 months.

Micah could crawl right across the room but with his tummy on the floor at 5 months, his movements at 4 months sound similar to Leo. You may well see him crawl soon!

I'm not sure if this is similar to what you are talking about, but i was going to ask the same thing, Lucas has been doing this for about 2 days now... Have a look from about 40 seconds (and excuse the mess lol)

Yes, that's what I'm talking about; a definite pre-crawling position with knees fully under the hips, head and belly up off the floor and arms not fully extended.
