Here in the US, we paid around $600.00. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. The last one I did have some major cramping, which they warn you about. Basically its a pretty quick process. They have your significant other go into a room to "donate". They they take the sperm, wash it and use the most viable. When I was called into the room, they would tell me how many sperm we were working with. They usually like to have around 10 million, but twice we were below that and did it anyway.
You get into the stir ups like you were getting a pap smear. They they use a catheter to insert the sperm.
