I am looking into doing IUI pretty soon. I am going to call the FS Monday. But I am curious to know approx. how much it typically costs? I am still debating on doing the HSG as I have been pregnant 3 times in my uterus and it was from both sides as we saw the corpus lutem. So my doctor doesn't seem to think he will see anything, so I think I am going to put that off unless something comes up to where I may have to do it. I just want to start IUI as I am 37 and if I am not getting any younger. So anyway, any advice?
Thanks in advance girls!

Hi,

I'm afraid I won't be any help at all as I live in the UK and have no idea how much IUI costs in the US, but from my limited knowledge of assisted conception I would imagine it would be better to have a HSG first just in case, to make sure you have no issue with your tubes.

Hope you get a ore helpful answer from someone else but didn't just want to read and run.

xxxxxx

Thank you so much for replying. I am going to call the FS this morning to take the next step.

im not sure about the US but in the UK i think its about £600 ago, i know you have to pay for bloods and semen anaylis sepearately which i think is a couple of hundred.

A single IUI in my clinic is $300, but they require 2 visits prior (one the day before, and one the week before) that include ultrasound and blood work - that is additional $ that I'm not sure of (my insurance pays). Oh, and plus initial semen analysis ($150).

Ours were around$600 a cycle. We didn't do any monitoring though, but I did have the HSG done prior, we didn't want to spend money on something that might have some hidden underlying issue, though we knew we had MF already-it seemed worth it to spend the $900 to be sure our $600 ones weren't for nothing - literally.

None was covered by our insurance. J&E came on our 8th try.

The reason we are not going to do the hsg is because the doctor does not seem to think they are clogged because I have had 3 pregnancies in my uterus. We are meeting with the fs on the 23rd. I am going to do my fourth round of clomid this month and then from there we will decide what to do next month with the fs. IUI is still a lot less the IVF right now. Our insurance isn't covering any of this either.
Your babies are beautifull! Thank you for responding.

I just called the fertility clinic out here in AB canada and they told me it was 250 a cycle plus the cost of clomid. I know that SA's and testing to show if tubes are blocked is covered by the government but the actual procedures of IUI IVF and ICSI etc are not covered at all. Hope this helps, good luck! We are waiting for our referral to go through so hopefully starting IUI in 3 to 5 months. I don't know how I am going to wait! We have decided to do a max of 12 IUI's as it is super cheap compared to IVF and because DH's sperm is below normal but not completely written off. We want to give it the best chance before we spend the big bucks.

Since you have had three pregnacies I think it is apparent that the tubes are ok, unless you last M/C was over a year ago. I see that you live in the USA so I am unsure the actual cost but here in Ontario the cost is $375 for the first sperm wash and AI and if you choose to do two AI in one cycle the second wash is $175. OHIP covers all of the U/S's and blood work here so that is a savings. I also had to pay a "block fee" of $350 which covers the misc cost ( like injection training, phone calls ect) and it lasts for three months of treatment. These hidden fee's is where it can get expencive. Clomid was cheap..as you know but FSH injectibles do cost allot more. I hope this helps you and good luck !!

Thank you so much for you help. My last mc was in October. So not quite a year yet. I am anxious and a bit nevous as well about meeting a fs. My insurance doesn't cover much if anything. So it will all be out of pocket for us. Over here they don't have any kind of government help with stuff like this. We are prepared for the extra expense. Hopefully he will have some good news! Good luck to you! When did you get you iui done this month? Did he do it with so many eggs?

I had two AI last weekend (Saturday and Sunday) I was surprised that we had so many eggs..I was told about the amound of eggs AFTER the AI on Sunday. That's what upset me. I did talk to my DR and he told me that since my age ( I am almost 36) it is very unlikly that all eggs would fertilize. She also said that had I been in my 20's they wouldn't have done the AI. I won't test till next Friday. The chances of this working for me is 25% per cycle ( that is what I was told) so it might be a little higher for you.

Good luck, hehe, glad your able to put off that HSG. My Dr suspected noting, and found nothing, but when we spent 4800 to get J&E, it would have sucked to know nothing would have worked or we could only do every other cycle or something. But I'd never been pg before. I married dh at 16. :D
