Sorry for repeating - I asked this on the IUI thread but didn't get any answers.

For those who have been through IUI - what day do have IUI compared to the day you OV?

I have just had my first cycle of IUI and had it on CD10. I then went back on CD14 and the doc estimated that I had OV'd on CD11-12, and seemed happy that this was fine. However, I have just read this article that says that you really need to do the IUI on the same day as ovulation:
https://www.ivf1.com/iui-intrauterine-insemination/

thanks

I haven't done IUI yet, but my doctor sent the instructions for me to do it next month. It says to use an OPK with second urine of the day (basically it says empty bladder of FMU and then use second sample of the day). I need to call the morning of a positive OPK to schedule IUI for the next day.

It sounds like this timing is a little bit later than your IUI. I can't tell you how successful this timing would be, it's just want my doctor instructed. I'm sure it makes sense to time it as close to ovulation as possible. Did you use OPKs?

When I went in for my scan on day 13 of Clomid, my follies were big enough to contain a mature egg, so they gave me the hcg trigger shot, and I went in 36 hours later for insemination. I think they timed it wrong because the morning of the IUI, I had a post O temp and a :bfn: 2 weeks later. I probably should have gone in the next day after the trigger shot. I guess every woman's body is different.

Hi lola - thanks for replying, no I didnt' use OPKs - I usually use the CBFM but I was away and forgot to take it with me so couldnt' re-set it this cycle. My FS based the timing on U/S scans. I'm convinced it was done too early, but I guess nothing I can do now until next cycle....

Aaargh... it's so frustrating isn't it? i wish there were a more exact science for ensuring it was always done at exactly the right time! Sorry for your BFN -FX'd it works for us both next time!!

Fx'd for you Happy. DH and I are going on to IVF..hopefully later this year. Good luck to you!

I can't help as much as I would like - but explain my current experience.

I am not tracking my ov with opk or bbt.

I am going for regular ultrasounds/scans to track follicle size, lining, and having my blood taken. The plan is to do hcg trigger and then 24 hours later to do the iui. I am going tomorrow for my last scan and likely to trigger tomorrow - then iui sunday. I will let you know more about tomorrow.

Good luck!

My experience will be similar to Blue's - my clinic in Chicago does clomid day 5-10, trigger shot day 12, insemination day 13 (monitored with scans along the way so as not to miss something that might be happening)

Thanks for all your replies -I guess it was more difficult with me this cycle as we weren't using any medication at all, not even a trigger shot. As you say was basically done with U/S measuring the follicle size and lining...

The FS did say that she would perhaps use trigger shot next time. I still have around 5 days until I tell for sure if it was successful or not, but I'm not very hopeful... At least I have a lot more info and questions for her next time round.

Good luck to you all!

i'm having 3 natural iui cycles, and i'm not even having scans, they told me to phone on the day i got a pos opk, and then they'll get me in either that day or the next day
