IUI with multi eggs

I was just wondering how many eggs is avarage for DR's to do IUI? I have just had my second IUI (Saturday and Sunday) and this time we used injectibles with clomid. When they triggered me on Friday I thought I had four good eggs ( two were on my left side which is blocked) and several small ones. The DR who did my second AI on Sunday asked if we had talked about selective reduction with anyone because I had seven eggs that were over the 15mm size. We were unprepared for that news! I have searched the internet on multi ovulation and IUI but haven't found much info. We were prepared for twins at the most if the IUI was to work but selective reduction scares me. When I called the clinic with my worries they told me that if I had been in my 20's they wouldn't have done the AI but since I am 35 the chances of all eggs fertilizing is slim. Has anyone conceived with so many eggs?

I didn't want to read and run. I don't know a lot about IUI as I am going to a fertility specialist myself for the first time to discuss IUI as well. I see you had a tubal reversal as well. I had mine done in 2007 and I have had 3 miscarriages since then. I had taken Clomid 3 months and took off for 3 months and now we are back on it. I do ovulate on my own, but since I am not getting any younger (37) I figured I would give it a boost! I did get a scan on my last round of clomid and I had 3 small follicles on the left and on the right I had 3 large follicles measuring 25 mm. So I had the trigger shot, but unfortunately I didn't get pregnant. Good luck and I hope this is your month!

I am sorry, but I see we have talked before. What does the doctor say your chances are of conceiving through IUI? Do you know how long you good tube is?

My doctor won't go through with the IUI if there are more than 3 eggs.

Thanks for the reply Jonnanne, I also OV'd on my own but with the other issues of tubal blockage and low counts is why they decided to give us an extra boost. Last month I was on 100mg of clomid but only OV'd one good egg (even tho I did have several small ones) and we got a . So this month they decided to try 100mg of clomid with an injectibleand we managed to get several good eggs and a few smaller but fertilizible eggs. I am not sure how long my remain tube is but I don't think it really mattered from what I have heard.If you have conceived three times that is wonderful !!! How long ago did you have your tubal liagtion?

Vinyard, I see you also had an IUI with clomid + FSH..How many eggs did you end up with? and did you have any side effects?

I had my tr on April 12, 2007. First pregnancy Feb 15, 2008, mc March 3rd. Second Pregnancy June 23, 2008, mc July 5. Third pregnancy October 6, 2008 and mc October 20. (3rd one, I found out on cycle day 8! 3 days after my period ended and I tested negative right before the period!) My tube lengths are R-2.5 cm and L-3.0 cm.
you heard that the tube length doesn't matter? Really? I thought it was harder with shrter tubes? Maybe that is me over thinking things!

I had asked about tube length when I had the reversal and the fertility DR and both said that it doesn't really matter. That's why I didn't concern myself with the length.

Vinyard, I see you also had an IUI with clomid + FSH..How many eggs did you end up with? and did you have any side effects?

I only did a total of 150 IU of FSH split up between 2 different days and we got 3 mature follicles. As I mentioned before my clinic won't follow through if there are more than 3 mature follicles.

I also did ICSI and really I don't have many FSH side effects. I have WAY more side effects from Clomid than FSH.

We showed 3 corpus lutems (sp?) at our first ultrasound after we got our +. I was 7wks pg at the time. We didn't do any monitoring with our IUIs.

I heard that the risk of multiples with IUI is a lot lower then IVF and other treatments. I would be a bit concerned with 7 but with your tube problems and age I would go with the flow. If you have 7 and a bunch are on the blocked side then aren't they useless? I will be doing IUI in the coming months and hope I can produce 3 eggs.

My DR was telling me a story of a women she treated last month who was 40 yrs old and OV'd with only one egg on her blocked side and she got a I know that is rare but it does happen...Gives us hope..

Hi need help first time in using this so dont knw if this is how u work it but i see ur on line can we pm each other i hav jst been cancelled iui today but have a question bout the pregnyl injection

Well im 39 have jst had a cancelled iui coz i had 4 follicles and hosp wont do it. iv had 2 failed ivfs and 3 failed unstimulated iuis. this wos the first stimulated iui. so today iv been told iui will b cancelled coz of 4 follies. my question is and need a reply today plz should i go ahead and bed tomrow moring and if so should i take the pregnyl so i ovulate all the eggs or not take the pregnly in which case will i jst ovulate the mature follicle in other words one egg which would jst be like evry other month even without the stimulation/
