IVF couple on US news

Did you all hear about the couple on the news tonight in US?

The wife is about to give birth in three weeks. They had a successful IVF transfer 8+ months ago, but the IVF doctor realized after he had done the transfer that he had transferred the wrong zygote.

He told them right away that they had the option to terminate or would need to turn the child over to his genetic parents shortly after delivery.

The couple obviously chose to keep the child and give him over to his genetic parents at the end of term. Can you IMAGINE!??

Good news is, her body should know pregnancy now and allow her to get pg soon after delivery. If not, I hope they have some free IVFs coming their way!

That's insane.

They are such wonderful people for continuing with the pregnancy for the biological parents. Can you even imagine such a decision. It's hard to even fathom. I can't even say what I would decide....

Absolutely insane.

I would carry it and turn it over I think thats wonderful of them, mistakes do happen and part of the paper work I signed was basically stating it can happen but shouldn't.

Well, the genetic parents are accepting the child, so I'd imagine they are pretty happy. To me it is like everyone took the worst situation and is making the best of it. I just hope for the surrogate couple they will get pg again soon!
I couldn't imagine going through that.

Wow, how difficult would that be? But, I feel very proud of them for putting the child's needs in front of their own pain.

a refund of the fee for both couples i would say plus free 'gold service' ivf until she gets her own BFP.... What a doctor! By the way, i've heard this happens all the time..it's just that most couples only find out years later.... Can you imagine? Someone should sue them for negligence! How difficult is it to lable the little diamonds properly and to confirm the names b4 the tratment! If i was to go to ivf i'd make sure i ask 1000 times (and force my dh to do the same when they knock me out) and i'll ask again later.... what this couple have done is great...can you imagine if this was the other parents' last chance... What a clown doctor...
