For those of you who have done IVF my question is, when you do your first egg collection do they make you do the egg collection for each cycle? Or would you only have to do it multiple times if you didn't get enough good eggs to last more then one cycle of IVF? I am wondering cause I am trying to figure out if you have to have and pay for the gonal or follistim meds each month or if you can skip that if you generated enough eggs during the first retrieval. I hope that makes sense.

It isn't the number of eggs, but the number of embryos that determine that. If you have a lot of good embryos they can freeze the left overs so you can use on another cycle, if you don't have any to freeze then you will have to do another fresh cycle.

I second what honeycat said. If you've got plenty of good quality eggs that are likely to survive the thawing process then they can be frozen for future cycles. If not, you'll have to do a stimming cycle again.

Good luck

Ok thats what I wanted to hear! The chance that I might not need to do it multiple times. I am very healthy and all my levels and tests have been great or better then great so I am hoping that I respond well to the meds and get lots of good eggs. I am normal weight and fairly active I think my BMI is like a 22 or something so fingers crossed my body does what it is suppose to. But fingers crossed even more that IUI works first!
