IVF?

Hi everyone! I have been on BnB for a while but this is my first time in assisted conception. I've been on clomid for a couple of months, and if it doesn't work for me in the next few months, dh and I are really interested in IVF. Can anyone tell me what the process involves and what the timeline is? How long is the whole process? Thx

Hi Tracy, the time line really does depend upon your clinic in terms of how quick they move and what their waiting list is like. I was referred by the NHS and within a month I had been to an open evening and had a first appointment where we discussed the different protocols and how we would go about it. Each protocol takes a different amount of time to complete - i did the long protocol with the pill and it took about 5 weeks from first injections to the end of the 2 week wait. You also have to sync things with your cycle as well, so there is a bit of waiting around to make sure you start on the right days etc.
In fact the worst bit is the waiting, but i would say if you are looking to get on with IVF then find out which clinic you wil be referred to or where you choose and ask them lots of questions.

Thank you for the info!! Can I ask the difference between the short and long protocol? Do they give you a choice, or is it just that different clinics do it differently?

Hi Tracy, i think it all depends upon you as a patient as to which route they use. They take lots of detailed info from you at the initial consultation and then discuss it with yo before they decide. I'm really lucky with my clinic who are brilliant, so they explained everything really well. If you follow this link -
