Is anyone else finding this extremely upsetting at the moment?

I was 10 when James Bulger was murdered. I always knew it was horrendous, but I never knew any of the details.

However, today, I read some of the stuff that happened to that poor poor baby, and it has really gotten to me. My LO is the same age as James was when he was abducted and murdered.

I can't imagine how terrible it must be for his poor family.

RIP James xx

I saw his fathers interview on This morning, it had me in tears. There must be something really wrong with the boys that did that, it scares me that they are walking around out there. They were children but no normal 10 year old would even think about doing that to some one else

I was 14, and it's the first major news thing I remember, it scared the hell out of me and to this day I am still disbelieving that two children were able to do it.

It's hard enough loosing a child... But in such an awful way.

Only one is walking around.
Jon venables was re incarcerated a few years ago for numerous child pornography issues! He's a nasty piece of work.

They were both released at 18 I think and given new identities by the government.

I was exactly the same Age as James and it does scare me because the minute you look away for a split second could make all the difference out there.

Also I think that guy is coming out this summer, think that's what I heard yesterday :/

He's up for parole. But James mother is trying to get it refused.

I are the mistake off reading details on this, it haunts me. I look at my girls and it breaks my heart for this poor baby and his family

It upsets me so much.
My hubby isn't overly vigailant when it comes to knowing where lo is (like in the supermarket and leaving him in the car)and we fall out about it all the time. It's the James Bulger case that makes me realise how much we need to watch our children. This happened 20 years ago and society has changed so much since then.
That poor mother must beat herself up over it everyday.
I hope these 'boys' are locked up for good. I can't imagine a 10 year old thinking about the things they put James through let alone being capable.
It makes me so sad :(

i was about the same age as James so tbh i didnt know much about what happened to him.. i knew he got beaten & died.
ive just looked though & i feel sick..
 that poor child :(
xxx

I think I was about 6 when it happened and obviously was pretty oblivious to what happened until I googled a few years back and its haunted me ever since :( RIP little one

I too wasn't very old so didn't remember it either. Read his dads story or at least some exerts of what they did to him and cried so much at the thought of a poor young boy going through that...what really stuck with me was when he said he wanted his mummy and they let him run off a little then dragged him back:cry:...I do not know how any 10 year old can think of such sick torture to inflict upon such a young child...It is things like this that make me angry at the justice system in this country :growlmad: On Trevor McDonalds inside death row there was a guy who had been given 170 years in jail at the age of 12 for killing 2 OAPs why are we so lenient and why do we find it so difficult to comprehend that perhaps these 2 boys were just pure evil. X

I was 6 at the time and since reading about what happened it haunts me too. The poor poor little boy .
I really hope Venables isn't released again, and it's kindof a scary thought that Thompson is out and has a new identity :nope:.

The excuse was Video Nasty's. they had seen things on TV and thought it would be 'fun' to see what it would like in real life!
I agree they should have not been let out, but, I think it was because they were minors, and so the sentence couldn't continue when they turned 18!
Load of rubbish!

This is what I'm on about why is there that loophole because they are minors? Because the British justice system cannot comprehend that a child could commit such evil...they did hideous things and at 10 knew the difference between right and wrong. to then go and give them new identities aswell makes a mockery of the whole thing. Grrrr makes me so angry to think they have in a sense gotten away with the whole thing.

I totally agree, but the argument that was made in court was that because they watched so much violence on TV that they didn't actually understand the difference in right and wrong!
Ridiculous!

I was 13 at the time and didn't know all the details, all I knew was a little boy was kidnapped and tortured to death.:nope: I read the details yesterday and I am now haunted (wish I'd never read it now)

At the age of 10 those boys knew what they were doing and that it was wrong, they should never have been released.:growlmad: Why should they get a second chance to live a normal life when that poor innocent child had his life cut short by these two EVIL creatures? I feel so sorry for James' mum and family. RIP James xx:kiss:

I was turning 2 when this happened and it absolutely disgusts me that these two boys were freed and given a new identity, they knew exactly what they were doing and are sick, evil and twisted.
So sad and horrible for the family of the poor child x

It was also said how they tried to take another child that same day and that a women heard them saying "lets get one of them"...
At the age of ten it shocks me how well they planned the crime, they told people that James was one of their little brother and others how James was lost and they were taking him to the police station.

Me too, i was only 1 when it happened but as i grew up i heard about it. Now my eldest is 2 i keep thinking what if something like that happened, its so awful, i would pay good money to torture the living shit out of those two foul creatures. I even had a dream about something related last night it was playing on my mind after watching BBC news last night before bed :( i really feel for his mother. xxx

I was about the same age as James Bolger when he was killed. I have heard some of the details in the past but I refuse to know anymore. I find things like this WAY too distressing and once they're in there I cannot get the images out of my head :(

I was the same age when he was killed so obviously didn't know what was happening back then but gosh it's shocking and awful. How can his parents ever move on with what happened to him? They knew exactly what they were doing, and urgh...leaving this thread...
