My labor story....
Well, I started to feel painful contractions around 8:45 am on Friday, January 2nd after using the bathroom. I was very calm during these beginning contractions at 10 minutes apart and just started to time them using my phone ap.
By the way, it really all started the night before. So I should talk about what I did Thursday night. Thursday night, January 1st, I decided to prepare for labor by walking up And down the stairs of our condo for 10 mins at 11:30 at night. I then continued on by doing some squats in the kitchen and ended with a yoga pose that hopefully helped open my pelvis. Well it all worked! By 2 pm Friday , daddy and I were at the hospital being checked out in the triage. I was only one cm when they finally checked me. Luckily, rather than sending me home they gave me two hours to see what progress I would make. After some more laboring in the triage and 20 minutes of walking up and down the hallway, I progressed to 4 cm! Yay! they're not sending me home is all I was thinking. Also, all I could think about was where's my epidural!!!! So after, being admitted to my labor room and getting some blood work done I finally got my epidural. Shortly afterwards, around 8:45 p.m., mom, sis, and close family friend joined us for the rest of labor and birth. My bulging bag of water wouldn't break at 8cm so asked midwife to break it and she did. At 1:30 a.m. I was 10 centimeters and at 1:50 a.m. I started pushing. At 3:18 a.m. Jasmine joined us earth side weighing 8Lbs 11ozs and 20 3/4 inches. I did end up having 2nd degree tear due to her shoulders getting stuck. Midwife reacted quickly and did a maneuver to get her out. Was probably the only scary moment out of my whole labor, pushing, and pregnancy experience but it happened quickly and all was okay. Mommy and baby are happy and healthy!
