I was 40+5 when I had my membrane sweep on Thursday, May 10th around 4pm.
the previous week, I had lost a lot or clear mucus plug and possible amniotic fluid leakage (midwives said it wasn't after a positive, then false test).
anyways, had my bloody show about 9pm and went to bed.. I woke up around 3am with PAINFUL contractions about 5 minutes apart and woke up my dad to get ready.to go.
arrived at L&D around 4am and got dressed in a sexy hospital gown and hooked up to the IV to get my antibiotics for GBS. I called OH and told him to get his ass to the hospital (he was an hour away).
so, midwife checked me and I was still only 2cm (had been that way since I was 36 weeks) - I labored in the shower, and after 15 minutes the contractions got so intense I started crying.. I was getting contractions 2-3 minutes apart for 6 hours, got checked and was still only 2cm!
after 6 more hours of excruciating contractions (no break in between), I got the epidural which was enough for me to finally relax and dilate
. 15 minutes later I was 8cm and completely effaced.
about 30 minutes later, I felt like I had to poop.. so midwife checked me and I was 10cm and ready to push!
I pushed for 3 hours! and finally, Jericho was born (4:42 pm) with the cord wrapped around once and meconium behind him! 7lbs 15.5oz and 22" long! OH burst into tears!
we had immediate skin to skin for almost 2 hours and he had a perfect latch.. he stared at me until they put the goop in his eyes..
we were released after 2 days, on May 13th.. BEST MOTHERS DAY EVER!
the nurses all said I was one of the best mommies they've ever seen.. especially only being 19!
Jericho is now 2 months old and 13lbs and 26" long.. perfect
