Hello everyone,

I am curious to know if any of you have ever either considered or had any success with the Jonas Method.

See this link: https://lunarium.co.uk/jonas.php

As I am still ttc myself I am more interested in whether anyone has actually used if for planning their ideal conception date rather than choosing the sex of their child.

I've found out that my ideal time for conception this cycle would have been today (4 May) at 10.46 am and we managed to BD at about 10.20 am. I couldn't believe my eyes when I got PEAK reading on my Clearblue Fertility Monitor this morning and nearly fell over my shadow when I also got my darkest ever POSITIVE OPK. I'll pass out it it works out for us this time as it all seems too good to be true.

Imagine if .....

So, I hope someone on the boards has a good experience to report as it will really add to the excitement.

:happydance: things are looking good for you! :dust:

mama2connor posted a link to this site last month and I had a look at it but my date was on CD2 and didn't fancy trying it out with :witch: hanging around and was too busy eating chocolate!

This month I'm supposed to conceive a girl on the 19th. Will definately give it a try if :witch: arrives and I don't get a :bfp:

Wow, I took a look and it's very interesting. Apparently, my ideal day of conception this month is May 20, which falls on full moon and is around the time I am expecting to ov this cycle! Freaky! The Risk Factor thing is scary though!!

Yeah, I agree, if anybody out there has any concrete experience with this, please share.

Thanks Tishimouse for sharing that site with us.

I can't imagine how this would work, apparently I would be due to conceive on the 5th which is way past when I ovulated...

Haven't got a clue, something to do with the moon. Thought it couldn't do any harm BDing when it says to though (not that I'll need to of course with my :bfp: )

Oh for crying out loud Tishimouse, not you of all people!

"The probability of conception will be high despite the phase of your hormonal cycle on which such a moment falls. In fact, research shows that if such a moment falls on the days of menstruation, the probability of conception will be very high"

Seriously?! These guys reckon you can conceive when af is in town?!?!

I'm sure you can conceive when af is around it's just very unlikely (that's what they say when they're trying to stop you having unprotected sex because it's so easy to get pg anyway!!!).

I think things like that website are a nice distraction as long as you don't take them too seriously, they aren't trying to get money off you etc. It's like horoscopes, I think anyway.

I remember posting this not long ago, i tried it out this month for me, so heres hoping it does work!...Only thing was my time was about 8:30am and me and OH didn't BD until around 11:00 am so not sure if it would of been as affective. *fingers crossed*

Yes because it goes by the position of the moon when you were born. Apparently each month the moon is the same position as when you were born you have a high chance of conceiving. I say it's worth a go. It says on the website that even if your period is here when you have your lunar fertile day theres still a high chance.

I'm sorry ladies but this makes exactly zero sense to me as it seems it flies in the face of all our scientific efforts! I don't care where the moon is, if our eggs are just on their way to becoming AF there's no chance in hell they'll meet the spermies, slap their heads and turn back!

That's not to say you won't get a baby boy out of your BD today Tishimouse because you will. It just won't be because of this Jonas fellow :haha:

Yeah, I'm with you Alexandra, it's definitely not scientific enough for me!

YES, but if it were all about science - why haven't we fallen pregnant yet? I strongly believe in fate and, though I don't really believe this lunar stuff, I do believe in mother nature, Pan etc and that maybe it all plays a part.

Combined with the fact that I know of 2 girls who conceived having BD'd at a really unlikely time, wayyyyyyy before they usually OV, then sometimes I think 'something' else plays a part.

Anyway, this is all a bit of fun, right? Doesn't harm.x

Yeeha! I've started a debate ... result!

I love it.

I have to admit I am a scientist by qualification and think it's a load of old pants, but it sure as hell is a load of fun. If it works for me, I'll eat my shorts! :laugh2:

I am so confused with this link??? so the random date you want it to start from - why then does it say i should be BD in the middle of AF and nowhere near ovulation??

i think i'm having a special moment!!!

OK in response to Rachelle & Alice who say they are confused, here are my own thoughts on it. It is confusing because it's not actually based on fact, rather on the pattern of lunar cycles and astrology (correct me if I'm wrong).

It's a bit like reading your horoscope and has something to do with the position of the moon at the time of your birth and how that effects you monthly through your life.

I have keyed in my date and time of birth and started the calculation from the 1st of January 2008, which has brought up a list of dates according to the Jonas Method of when I am more likely to conceive. As you will have seen it can be any time during your cycle and not necessarily around the time you believe you ovulate. This can incredibly include times during your AF and there are people who have conceived after having intercourse during these obscure times, but I can't find any concrete explanation as to why. I suspect their cycles were unusual in some way or another and perhaps these people had extra long menses and/or ovulated a day or two following their period. After all, we all know sperm can live up to five days in certain women in the uterus, so I reckon this phenomenon could be explained by this.

Having looked at my own past cycles, I can see that I haven't yet had intercourse at any of the predicted dates suggested by the Jonas calendar except today, so for that reason alone, I am going to enjoy waiting to see if I achieve a lucky coincidence.

Astronomy after all is a form of science that is based on a series of mathematical forumula. All the hypotheses are made all the more interesting or unbelievable (depending on your outlook) by the additional factors of planets and stars etc. Many people will poo poo it as soon as they read that their 'moon was in Aries' at the time of their birth. I have no idea what this means but apparently that's where my moon was at 3 am on the 3rd of May all those years ago. I don't think my mother knew but I would imagine it was the last thing on her mind. :laugh2:

just did mine and it said I will be fertile on the 16 th at 2:46am should be in my 2ww wait by then but it will make me do something as I am waiting :)

according to that my daughter is a boy...
and my son is a girl....

Oh Miel! Are you going to set your alarm clock? Ha ha!
