Basically I had a letter from my work place saying that the end of my contract is up 5th September. So I'll be out of work(they don't know I'm pregnant either so it's not like that's the issue)
Me and my Partner rent a house, but he's on about an average of £27-£32k a year, so already know I couldn't claim hardly any benefits, I earned £12k a year, so have bills coming out every month. My other half has said we'll manage but I still need to have some money coming in to pay for my bills.

So what I'm asking is how do I get started? I've looked on DirectGov website but it wasn't very helpful as it doesn't explain any steps that 'if you're pregnant'.
I'm currently 21weeks pregnant and know no one would employ me as I couldn't claim maternity leave anyway.
I know at 29 weeks or around then you apply for income support? But i read somewhere if your partner earns more then a certain wage that I wont be able to claim for it?
It's so confusing and stressful!
Thanks for any answers in advance x

I don't think it will be income support, won't it be maternity allowance? I would make an appointment at jo centre then they can check if our eligible for anything kx

You should be able to claim jobseekers allowance until 29 weeks (if you are looking then you can claim, it's irrelevant if no one will employ you) then at 29 weeks you can claim maternity allowance. Talk to the job centre as you may need to put your claim in now.

Ok, thanks. I think I'll phone them up and see what they say. This is first time I've had to ever claim anything.
