I went to Fresh Market, which is like Whole Foods, and bought some organic fresh squeezed orange juice. It's expiration date is 5/12 and it's the fresh market brand so I assumed it was pasteurized. Well, in tiny writing on the back it says its not! What are my chances of getting sick?

Dont know about chances hun, but I ate some unpasteurised salad dressing at a dinner party without realising.. Thought "oh god what have i done" but everything seems ok so far. Im no expert but id think ud be fine :)

OJ is definitely better then milk thats unpasteurized and it doesn't expire for awhile...I wouldn't stress over it too much, we have all had little slips now and then just as long as you make a conscious effort to not let it happen again.

slim to none, its unpasteurized milk and cheese we need to be worried about if it was in date then its no different to drinking homemade lemonade or orange juice you have squeezed yourself

I'd say slim to none - don't panic!

I'd say there was nearly a 0% chance of anything going wrong after you having drunk unpasteurised orange juice. As far as I'm aware its more dairy products that you have to be more cautious with. Good luck. xxx

To Flashy09!
Feeding your baby or drinking freshly squeezed orange juice, especially unpasteurized is certainly wonderful for the both of you! Why on Earth would one serve the garbage that is bought from the store? Why does orange juice last so long in the fridge? Pasteurization destroys everything! It subjects heat so high that nothing could possibly survive. So instead of the juice being living, vital and health promoting, it is made to be dead, acidic and harmful! (If you could only see what your blood looks like after drinking the fake sugary stuff!) Contact the Big OJ companies and have them tell you how they get their juice to last so long! If you and I were to grow our own organic orange tree, keep it clean without pesticides and chemicals, and then we picked an orange to eat or drink, do you honestly believe it would be tainted with deadly bacteria? Perhaps I should call God and complain! And stay away from milk! You baby would fare better with apple, grape or melon juice, of course organic. I promise you that if you contact Enfamil or Similac, and ask about their GMO ingredients, they will assure you that they use them with full blessings from the FDA! Don't be lazy, make your own fresh juice, and stay away from the crap that's sold in stores if it is pasteurized even if it's organic!
Stay healthy!
Marco
PS! The warning labels are there to scare you into purchasing the junk that's no good for you! These companies only care about profits!

Hi all,
i brought some croissants from asda and ate one this morning however after eating and checking the ingredients it says whole egg, and doesnt say if its pasteurised or not.

Is it safe?

They are cooked so will be fine

Just remember -- our ancestors got on just fine :)
I'm sure we can eat a lot more than the guidelines recommend. And the guidelines change all the time...
