I'm just hoping I can find people to talk to here....
My name is Emilee and I guess I can't believe I'm here on a pregnancy site. I just took a pregnancy test two days ago and it was positive. From everything I see online, it looks like the chances of it being wrong are pretty slim, right? I'm not ready to tell anyone in real life yet. I don't know if I will tell the dad. I don't even know what to do at this point. I put in the dates of when I think my last period was and this online calculator says I'm 10 weeks?! How long until I have to go to the doctor?

Ah, idk, I had a prescription from my Dr. you also get ultrasounds to check baby, see how far along you are, its best all round to see the Dr as soon as possible.

I'm just not ready to go to the dr. yet. I'm too scared and I feel like if I go to the dr. I will have to tell people, like my parents.

well for the health of you and the baby it is best you call and let them know as being pregnant as a teen is classed as higher risk pregnancy so please go make an app with ur doctor..

xx

You need to get to the doctor. It doesn't mean that you will have to tell people straight away but you need to get yourself booked in with the midwife and a scan arranged, it'll be okay :)

Like the girls above said go to the doctor ASAP, it's all confidential and they will be able to talk you through everything! Sorry you are feeling like this but the girls here are lovely and supportive, everything will turn out ok! :)

You need to go to the doctor as soon as possible, as they will want to confirm your pregnancy, give you the important prenatals and book you in for a scan. I don't know how old you are, but you won't necessarily need to tell anyone about the doctors appointment until you feel ready.

I felt exactly the same as you do, and it took me almost a month to tell anyone, and I honestly wish I had told someone sooner. I know it's hard, but you're going to need as much support from family and friends as possible. Don't worry, it will all be okay!

xx

You definitely should have already seen a doctor, but no worries, just go ASAP!
Good luck! :)

It is possible to get prenatal vitamins from a store. Just look in the vitamin section for "prenatal vitamins". It's very important to take the vitamins early on because that is when the baby develops a lot of important organs and things. I started taking prenatal vitamins on my own when I was about 4 weeks along.

Although I'm not a teenager anymore, my pregnancy was a surprise, too. I know how scary it is to deal with everything and tell family. You don't need to tell family right away, but, it is important that you see a doctor. Doctors seem scary, but, the first appointment isn't necessarily invasive at all. Some doctors don't do blood tests or pap smears on the first visit even -- mine didn't. You can ask that those be done at the next visit, too, if that is what you are scared about. They will probably do a dating ultrasound on you at your first appointment -- if you are 10 weeks along, it will be done on your stomach. I had thought I was 10 weeks along when I booked my first appointment, but, I dated in the 9th week. So, now is the perfect time to be seeking out a obgyn or midwife.

Have you thought about going to a pregnancy center or a planned parenthood in your area? Those places are 100% confidential. Not all planned parenthoods do prenatal care, but, if you look online at ones in your area, it should tell you. A pregnancy center would probably be your best bet if you went this route, and, you could find those online too. I'm pretty sure visiting your own doctor will be confidential as well.

Best wishes, it will be okay. :hugs::flower:

congratulations on your pregnancy :) you don't have to tell anyone until you are ready, but you definitely need to go to the doctors. The first appointment is just paperwork really, they will also refer you to the midwife :) the midwife will then book you in for your 12 week scan which of your dates are correct will be soon! Good luck I hope all is fine :)

I recommend going to planned parenthood.

How old are you?

I get my prenatals at Safeway. Cheap :)

I agree with all of this :flower: I'm so sorry that this is a hard situation for you. You must be under so much stress. I hope that you can think of at least one person in real life that you can tell so that you will have some support. You will be ok! Give this some time to sink in (but see your doctor now). Not all decisions need to be made right away. Just take it as it comes. :hugs:

You should go to the Doctor as soon as possible. I normally went around 15 weeks, but it is recommended you go earlier. Is there a Planned Parenthood in your area? If you go, you do not have to tell your parents just yet - everything is confidential.

You can buy prenatal vitamins at the store (Wal-Mart, etc.). :hugs:

you really need to go hun....they not only need to just check u and ur dates they need to make sure the baby is in the right place...

they wont tell on u...its the doctor they need to keep everything about u private if u ask even if ur under 18 (hug) and doctors will not judge u either and can lead u to things to help u if ur worried about getting on with a little one...

so its well worth the app :hugs:

Thank you to all of you for your replies.
I'm 16. I guess I'm so scared to go to the doctor because well, I'm just scared of doctors to begin with, but I feel like once someone in real life knows there is no going back. Right now I can just try to forget about it sometimes and hide it. I've thought I was pregnant for weeks now, but I just kept telling myself my period would come.
Plus, I'd have to use insurance to go to the doctor and couldn't my parents find out somehow because of that?

they wouldnt know why you went and if you been pregnant for weeks, you really really need to cal them up and go in..For so many reasons, this will not disappear on its own because you dont talk about it and not going in can come with its own health risks.

by the time you parents see that you went to the Obgyn you would have told them anyway. If you dont wish to go look for a planned parenthood in your area and tell them you are pregnant and where can you go in to get checked out, but since you think your several weeks pregnant I would do it now not later...Again there can be health risks your unaware of so please go get checked out by someone.

thinking of you xx

I definately agree with what everyone else has said sweety! Trust me when I say that you are not the youngest girl on here to go through this... In the time that Ive been around the teen pregnancy section, Ive seen girls as young as 13. I know this hard, and difficult to process and deal with, but at 10 weeks you have to atleast schedule an appointment. Between 11 and 13 weeks they usually do a scan to make sure everything looks good, and that baby is in proper place with an heartbeat, blood tests need to be done, a pap is usually done...
Its just important to go. I know you are afraid.. I found out about my first pregnancy the day before my 17th and I FREAKED. But ya know what? Everything happens for a reason. I lost that pregnancy sadly at 13 weeks, and fell pregnant with our daughter.. two months after that I think? Anyway...
I also think you need to tell the father because even though you and he are young, he has a right and deserves to know. What he does with the knowledge after the fact however is up to him. Truthfulness is better then lying thats for sure.
As for your parents, some times they react better then youd expect. They maybe a bit disappointed, but they always get over it. IF you are worried they'll pressure you to get an abortion, then hold off telling them for another 3 weeks? after a doctors appointment, so you have a scan. After first tri, you cant have one.
I also wanted to say congratulations and welcome. Im Lisa, and Im 21. My daughter Emma is 3, and my son is 5 months! Im always around if you need to talk!

I will call after Thanksgiving to make an appointment somewhere. I've never even been to an OBGYN before.
I'm not ready to tell my family yet. I guess I will after I go to the doctor. I sort of feel like I won't even truly believe it until I have proof from the doctor, so I can't really bring myself to tell my parents.
The father and I aren't together. It's my brother's friend. This makes it even harder to tell my parents because it sounds even worse that I had sex with someone I wasn't even dating. I'm scared to tell him and ruin his life.
