Just got the results from my ultrasound. (Follicle Size Help?)

:wave: So, I had an ultrasound Tuesday because I had pelvic pain and thought " Oh great! Here come the cysts again. " Well, I just got my results and it looks like everything is normal?

I'm wondering if the 14 x 8 mm and the 10 x 8.5 mm were my ovulation? What do you ladies make of this?

I don't think so.

Firstly, that would mean you would have ovulated from both ovaries which is possible but not very common.

Secondly, I think she wouldn't have described them as 'cysts' but rather as corpus luteum(s): they look different on an ultrasound.

Third - your lining is 2.7mm. That's too thin to be post-ovulation.

Finally, she says that there is likely the "presence of dominant follicles". Dominant follicles exist prior to ovulation: they grow and compete to see which will be the follicle from which you ovulate.

So I think you are still in your follicular phase: you haven't yet ovulated.

Awesome! Thanks. I got a +OPK the next night after (Tuesday Night). So now I'm wondering if I even ovulate on my own? This cycle has been a weird one.

The report all sounds pretty good/normal to me. Ovulating a few days after those measurements also sounds pretty feasible.

The report also doesn't mention any other cysts which is great: just the two growing follicles, which is totally normal. By now, one of them will probably have given up and shrunk back, whilst the other will have ovulated/be about to pop!

Hopefully you'll ovulate now. However I had a tracked cycle once (regular ultrasounds) and didn't ovulate until my follicles reached 21mm. They grow about 1mm a day I think (???) so if you're the same, you'll need a bit longer until they're ripe. So keep an eye on your CM: if it goes fertile again in the next few days, try another OPK to see if this is the case. But you may well be someone who ovulates with smaller follicles, in which case this is likely it!

So.. I guess I got my surge tonight instead of CD 15. I took CD 15 as a +OPK because it was as dark as the control line but I am known to give BLAZING positives. So I kept on testing. Sure enough..
