im sorry i just need to rant and get it of my chest!
we are trying to buy a house we put offer on to estate agent and she was so rude basically shouting at me on the phone that "she can sell this house for way more blah blah"(house is on the market for 2 months still not sold)she didnt even forwarded our offer to owner.(i know the owner she agreed to accept our offer but we had to talk through estate agent)
also we told her that we are going to use our own solicitor (trusted and known for years)and she said that we must use one they recommending!!!!
i've done some digging went on estate agency website and guess what!solicitor got the same last name like hers so must be her husband or other family member!

im so angry
WTF?????

Two months is a very short time to be on the market right now. So I can understand the hold out on a better offer and estate agents get a cut of the sale so want the best price.

Anyway, if your friend has agreed i would get her to complain as that's very unprofessional maybe your friend doenst wantto sell it at that price but was too embarrassed to say to you.

Anyway, of your friend is seriously, she can always pulpit off the market and sell it directly to you and save thousands in costs.

I was going to suggest what PP did, if you friend wants to sell it at that price directly to you to just pull out of the estate agent and save the cut they take from it.

I'd also complain about the rude way in which she spoke to you and handled it all. It's out of order regardless of whether it is too low for her liking, there's polite ways in which to say 'that's pretty low so I wouldn't get your hopes up as it could sell for quite a lot more but I'll pass it on' and as the seller surely they're entitled to know of all offers not just the highest ones they pick and choose to send to them.

I'd be really annoyed too!x

Estate agents are crap, we told ours now we wanted the pics taken, words to use, sites to advertise on lol. It worked, sold for exactly what we wanted in a week! We Are about to put this up for sale and I'm crapping it,not really in the mood. We are mo ing due to work offering a reloaction and hoping they do a lot of the work.

With regards to the solicitor I know that a lot of estate agencies do require you to at least talk to their in house solicitor but obviously you don't have to use them if you don't want to x

I know and that's the main thing .it really pi....me of!!!and her attitude was discussing about the solicitor thing i don't know if she had a bad day or what!!!

I'm pretty sure that she's obligated to forward any offer made to the owners - it's up to them to decide if it's too low, not her!! I'm not sure if there's a regulatory body but she can probably be reported if she didn't forward the offer on.

We're looking at buying a new house next year, i'm dreading the process already - good luck with your move.

I would ask to speak to her line manager and complain about how she has been.

Regardless of her opinion, she is nothing in one sense other than the messenger and should pass that message on. In regards to the solicitor - she can recommend you one but can't force you into using theirs.

Sod speaking to the line manager.............id put a complaint in to whoever is the governing body! That's really shit!

Is it that different in england? I know up here we CANNOT use the same solicitor as the seller as its deemed a conflict of interests. You must have a completely separate one.

how rude and unprofessional. I would put in a complaint. They are obliged to put through any offer - it makes it worse that you know the vendor and is happy with it. You can use your own solicitor and are not obligated to use theirs, however they may want to qualify you can afford the mortgage.
