Just how bad is recovery after a section?!

I had a cesction with my LO, and I had an infection afterwards that resulted in 14 days and nights in hospital... so yeah it wernt great. I literally couldnt get out of bed for the first week, I didnt even change a nappy until about day 6 or 7. BUT for the majority, its not like this. There were ladies coming into the ward having c sections that were up and about a couple of days later and going home.

I'm subscribed on Youtube to a woman who has recently had an ELCS, and on her blog she wrote a post entirely dedicated to how she healed afterwards. I know that everyone is different, but I did find it very informative when my LO was breech and I thought I might need a CS. Somehow it's less scary knowing what to expect :flower:

If you've had any type of surgery before then it wont feel much different to how you've recovered in the past. If it's your first, it may take a bit of getting used to.

Generally, you'll prolly not manage to get up at all the first day, second day will be painful, third day less so, and so on. By the fourth day I was feeling ok enough to get on and do things for the baby. By the beginning of your second week, it will feel much much easier. How long is your partner taking off for babys birth?

We only planned on him taking a week of! As any more time would be unpaid :'( If i end up having a section though he will more then likely have to take more time of!x

Hey chickie, simular to my first baby then. My hubby could only take a week off as he'd used up all his holidays with unexpected hospital dashes in the months prior. It was ok on my own the second week as baby was very very good and never cried. See how you feel at the time, perhaps two weeks at least would be more ideal.
