So, as the title suggests, I just started taking Metformin yesterday April 22, 2014. I am on 500 mg once a day. I had a little bit of an upset stomach last night, in and out of the bathroom, but nothing major. My GP said he thinks I have PCOS and put me on the Met but referred me to a OBGYN, which I see on May 8th. Hopefully she can help me more. Anyways, I was told that it could help regulate my periods, seeing as I haven't had one on my own in at least 2 years. I had one last February due to Provera. Well, today when I went to the bathroom and wiped, there was clear pinkish one the TP, sorry TMI. I did spot for some unknown reason in Dec and again in Feb but no period, which is why my GP said he thinks I have PCOS. The pink, only when I wipe, as continued all day. I am not necessarily worried, but just intrigued I guess. Is the pink "spotting" from the Met? Or do you think it could be something else? I am on hypothyroidism med but it has never been an issue. Any similar stories, success stories, advice, or any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance and good luck and baby dust to yall!

Hi there! I started Met a week ago tomorrow for insulin resistance. The doctor says I don't have PCOS but do have insulin resistance. I am on 500 mg the first week and then bump up to 1000 mg the second week. I had a little bit of an upset stomach the first couple days but lately have been feeling good (don't wanna jinx it).

Anyways, I was applying pre-seed last night and noticed a little tiny spec of blood on the applicator. I am also about to ovulate (I think), so it could be from that.

Are you about to ovulate? I suggest clearblue digital advance tests, they work well for me because with the cheapies I played too much of a guessing game. I never have periods on my own (unless they are 100 days apart or more) so I'm hoping its the met getting me to ovulate if im about to! If you have any questions or wanna talk, feel free to PM me.

I have been ttc for a while now, so totally understand the frustration!

Hello! I also recently started Metformin (currently on 1000mg) and it gave me my first period on my own in 11 years!!! I was on birth control for 10 years and then was using Provera to induce periods. After about a month and half on Met I got my first period!! It was a light and short period and I am so praying the Metformin keeps on bringing AF! So I can get testing done to see if I O!

As for the upset stomach eat before you take Metformin and I take my night dose right before bed.

Blessings & Babydust,

Ms_Friendly, I have never ovulated, that I know of. I don't have periods so I doubt it. I will look into those if this period thing starts lol. I see you are newlyweds congrats!

ByHisGrace08, Congrats on Met working for you & I hope you O! I also take it right after supper before bed. So that probably helps.

Thanks!
