Hi,

My LO seems to be going through a bit of a fussy phase after being ill last week and currently won't take a full bottle.

Do you all keep any extra that's made to offer later? If so, how long do you keep it and would you reheat it more than once?

In gonna take him to the Dr's tomorrow about this but in the mean time I can't afford to keep throwing all this milk away.

He used to have 7/8oz 4 times a day then a last 5/6 oz late at night but now he won't do more than 3/4oz at a time.

I'm still making 5/6oz bottles in the hope he will take it but he doesn't.

Am I ok to keep the last 2/3oz and offer it again later?
LO will only take his milk warm so I have to warm it to offer it again.

I think you are meant to ditch it after an hour if LO has had some. I would be very wary about reheating too im afraid, as i think this makes bacteria multiply. Could you just make 4oz bottles until Lo is feeling better, or even do a few 4oz and a few 2oz so you can offer the 2 if he finishes the 4?

It usually has to be thrown after 2 hours... I wouldn't reheat it tbh

2 hours is suggested. Don't take the risk, particularly if he's been ill already. Make up smaller feeds over this fussy period

Agreed I wouldn't reheat. If he will take it cold then it can stay in fridge but I wouldn't heat then reheat.
Have you tried ready made formula? You can buy a big bottle or smaller cartons and they can keep in fridge for couple of days. They do work out a bit more expensive long term but maybe while he is going through this phase it will be cheaper for you. Either that or make up 8oz bottle and out half in fridge and heat half, you can always do more if he's hungry

Like others have said, throw it out. My daughter is teething at the moment, so is really struggling to eat. What I do is make less than she would normally eat (maybe 120 ml instead of 180 ml) and if she finishes that easily and is still hungry, then I use a fresh bottle to make up an additional 60 ml for her (which she may or may not finish all of). It cuts down on waste and makes sure that what she is eating is fresh. It does mean having to sterilise a few extra bottles a day in anticipation of it, but that's easy to do with advance planning.
