Kindle/ereader users,price of books?

My birthday is coming up and dh said he would get me one as I finished my book on Friday and waiting for the next to arrive has been really annoying lol so I was just wondering r the books u download cheap or do they work out the same as shop prices? I always shop on play.com and always get a bargain so don't wanna get a kindle if I'll be spending loads more on books.thanks ladies xx

you download from amazon and its cheap a friend got a book for 20p that was in the charts
