Hi ladies,

Congrats to the mammies who have there little ones.

I am 36 weeks pregnant with GD I have managed to keep it at bay with the no sugar diet I have been told I'm not allowed go over 40 weeks just wondering if any of you ladies went over the 40 week mark as I am keeping it at bay I feel like I'm not high risk to them?

Any advice would be brill

I also had GD...I made it to 40+1 day and went into labour on my own. I think the concern would be the size of the baby but mine was only 6 lbs 10 oz so...no one was considering inducing me...they also are "off" a lot so I never fully trusted measurements.
Mine was also well maintained as I ate a healthy diet as it was so I didn't need to change much just be monitored. My GD was caused by genetics! Hahaa

I have had GD on all my babies except my second baby, my first baby I got to 40+6 days when I was induced he was a fine healthy baby at 8 pounds 9 onzs I was diet controlled on him, he was delivered by emergency c section but that had nothing to do with my GD at all, all my other children were normal deliverys:thumbup:

My other babies, it did not matter how well I ate, my blood sugars would not behave, I was eating less and less and losing weight and needed insulin to help matain them, just a note that sometimes even though you are following a strict diet to the letter that it is down to your pregnancy hormones and nothing you are doing wrong if you need insulin :flower:

but I was then induced at between 38 and 39 weeks all healthy babies :flower: and all between 8 pounds and 8 pounds 9 except my second DS who was 10 days late and 10 pounds 1 :dohh:

I don't want to scare anyone but I had gd I couldn't keep my sugars down and needed insulin I went in for a routine monitoring and my babies vitals had dropped I was monitored for a good 12 hours practically none stop needed a csect (breech) as they were prepping me her vitals shot back up again I think she was sleeping awkward myself but they decided she was safer out so I had her at 35+5 weeks she was born a healthy 7lb9 an half ozs! Good luck to you :)
