Ladies looking to induce their own labor

Just want to share a fun fact for those who are overdue and fed up. With my second I was 38 weeks and couldn't take another second, so I researched and read that nipple stimulation worked to induce labor. So, I used my medela electric breast pump at 10pm at night. Woke up at 130am to pee and my water broke! So it definitely worked. After I asked my dr about it and he said that it releases oxytocin same hormone they use for induction and causes uterine contractions so jump starts labor. Definitely worth a try! I was so happy it worked

How long did you have it on? A low or high setting? Etc.

I am not due just yet but if I feel done now, I can only imagine how unpleasant I'll be at 38 weeks!

Electric breast pump. Both breasts 10 minutes!

Medium speed or wtv isn't too painful

I was so fed up I couldn't take it anymore. That day I had been to my dr and he told me I was long and closed and had a long way to go. I was like screw that! I pumped and it worked! DH was shocked too. He thought I was nuts when he saw me doing it

My husband thinks I am whining too much but this pregnancy has been a lot harder on me than my son's. Once 37 weeks comes around, I would really rather go nuts with trying to get her out rather than go insane from just sitting and waiting.

I know that anything I try may or may not work but at least I won't feel useless just sitting around.

You can do it manually, too. Any stimulation to the nipples will do the trick. I had a friend who put herself into labor at 39 weeks by doing it, and she usually goes straight up to her due date. I know it works, because every time I've had to go to L&D for preterm labor, they tell me no nipple stimulation, because it will bring on contractions.

It definitely works! I was totally closed not even a bit dialated. Manual stimulation works too but it's complicated bc there's a way to do it and I find the breast pump just works best I even got some colustrum when I had pumped lol. At first I thought nothing happenned but then I went to bed with dull cramping and when I went to pee my water exploded! Something to try for sure. This one isn't an old wives tale like eating spicy, cleaning or even dtd it works by directly contracting the uterus

My mom was induced via breast pump for both me and my brother. We were both born on Fridays... I think her OB really wanted undisturbed weekends ;-)

Sex put me into labor all three times, too. Having an orgasm gets your uterus contracting, so it makes sense.

I did actually! Was so surprised! I got about 2oz of colustrum lol. My dr told me sex only works if ur cervix is ripe. It did nothing for me! But pumping induced contractions that somehow broke my water... I'm going to try again this time

Definitely trying this in 10 weeks time! I tried manual stimulation last time and it didn't work despite getting some colostrum but electric sounds worth a try!
