Ladies looking to induce their own labor

Sex put me into labour all 3 times. But i never tried before 40 weeks. Will definitely be trying from 38 weeks this time. I have to find my breast pump lol did you happen to get any colostrum while you pumped?

I did actually! Was so surprised! I got about 2oz of colustrum lol. My dr told me sex only works if ur cervix is ripe. It did nothing for me! But pumping induced contractions that somehow broke my water... I'm going to try again this time :)

I thought you were having a planned section?!

I am :) and was last time too! But it was at 39.5 weeks and by 38 weeks I was soooooo done. I was desperate to get her out. Spd was killing me and she was estimated as a big baby (she was) so I tried breast pump and my water broke! Csection was done the next morning though bc like an idiot I had a pizza at 10pm while pumping lol so at hospital had to wait 12 hrs for csection:dohh:

Snap.

With DS1 I went 9 days over. DS2 nothing was happening well didn't seem to be. Thursday night had sex & Friday night used breast pump for first time for ages woke up that night with contractions and DS2 arrived the next day!!

Will be doing again at 38 weeks.

Although as far as I know it only kick starts if you are kind of on the verge of labour anyway.

Good luck ladies!! :D

Oooh this is an interesting thread! Once I get to 38 weeks I'll definatley be trying sex and nipple stimulation! I was 8 days over due last time and just avoided induction by going into labour spontaneously the night before. My cousin is having a section 31st March so I'd love it if we both give birth close together!

Whats considered full term now, is it 39 weeks? Just make sure to give LO's all the time they need in there ok xx

My notes still say 37 weeks, not that I'll be doing anything myself unless it gets close to induction which is 40 plus 12 here. I agree with another poster that I don't think it really matters what you do unless your ready/on the verge already :)

God bless the overdue ladies I literally can't go that far. I end up with pre e or severe swelling or something that makes my body literally fall apart. By 37 weeks my kids are quite big so for me it works. Dd1 was 8.5 at 38 weeks when she arrived and dd2 was 7.5 pounds at 37.5 weeks so they were fully cooked xx

Due dates are so easily muddled. There's nobpossibke way of knowing EXACTLY when you O, EXACTLY when you implant etc. It can be easily out for so many reasons! X

Totally agree with this. I don't think you can "make" yourself go into labour if your body isn't at least willing!

Just out of curiosity (sorry, don't mean to hijack the post Laila!) but has anyone previously tried or are planning to try Clary Sage Oil? Tried it last time and it did *ahem* eff all! But am willing to try it again. I began to actually quite like the smell last time! Good excuse for a massage off the OH too haha :P

Here in the US they have slightly changed things. 37-38 weeks is considered early term. 39-40 is full term, and 41+ is late term. So prob it's best to hold off as long as you can. Around 39 is a good idea. But it's hard lol. I'm so uncomfy. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow, and I just might try the pump soon ... But I have to get mine back from my sister lol. I'm getting a little desperate only because I'm not as dilated or effaced with this one like I did with my first- and I just don't want to be induced again. Although, maybe this also means I'm not ready and it won't work. I'll certainly keep everyone posted! Lol

Definitely won't hurt to try! For me induction is the absolute worst. I find pitocin to be pure poison to the body and it literally almost killed me when I was induced first time. So I'd try anything to avoid it xx

I did. As well as raspberry leaf tea, sex, spicy food and tons of walking. Nothing. Breast pump did it ;)

Having a check up tomorrow morning and I now know what I'll be doing after I get home :happydance:

I did this with both my babies and it didn't work for me :( I did get painful contractions from it but they went away by the next day. Maybe helped soften my cervix a bit though?

So I tried a manual pump today and... Nothing happened as in nothing at all. No milk no contractions... Just nothing. If I do it by hand I have a "squirty" flow but yeh... Feel a bit deflated about that experience. Haha.

Oh no! That's too bad! But wait u never know it may happen tonight or tomorrow :happydance:

Another one that worked fr a friend if mine is putting feet in hot tub. Stimulation of the achillesheel (the tendon at your heel) can stimulate the process. A hot tub is too hot fr us, so just the feet.

Yes a foot message during a pedicure can do it too. An experienced pedicurist knows how to do it. Also many of my friends swear by accupuncture for triggering labor.

I will definitely be trying all this again this time. Unfortunately last time literally nothing worked :( Tried breast pump, sex, climbing steep hills, acupuncture, every food in the book, running, squatting you name it. Come 42 weeks that kid was still jammed firmly in there (and I KNOW when he was conceived) and I had pre e and my placenta was dying and even at full dose Pitocin it took 24 hours to get him out. I have irrational fear that my body doesn't know how to go into labor and I'm going to be pregnant for an eternity with this one too.

However I'll still be trying like a fool come 38 weeks :P
