have you ever missed a dose?? i take 100mg suppositories at night before bed, but last night i fell asleep and forgot. i didnt want to take it this morning because i had to go to work and didnt want to be all groggy, but now i am nervous and think i should have.

i am 10 weeks so i think i should be ok, but every tiny feeling in my tummy i get worried.

I haven't missed a dose, but I am petrified that I will! I have to take it 3 times a day and it is hard to remember. I have a bad memory as it is. I probably would have taken the dose in the morning. Since you are already 10 weeks, I doubt it will matter anyway. I think the placenta starts taking over pretty soon

I found this
"If you forget to take a dose of your progesterone, you do not need to call the office or the doctor on call to report this. Take your missed dose as soon as you remember it and then start your regular progesterone dosing schedule."

https://www.womenandinfants.org/body.cfm?id=748

Can you go back home and take it?

Also on that same site it makes it sound like they would have started weaning women by now, so I think you are good

"If you are pregnant, you will need to keep taking your progesterone supplement until about eight to nine weeks from your embryo transfer. Call our office if your “send-off” visit with your doctor is going to be later than this and we will plan the “weaning” schedule for you. Otherwise, this schedule can be made at the time of your “send-off” visit with your doctor. Little by little you will decrease your use of progesterone during the ninth week of pregnancy."

I wouldnt go by this. I am 9 wks and was just put on progesterone. Also, I was told many woman are now on it thru 3rd tri so they dont go into pre term labor. It really depends on the person. My first dose was at 9 wks and I am supposed to be on it until 20 wks.

Oh, interesting. I'm not saying she should go off it! I'm just saying since she is further along it might make it more OK that she missed a dose. I still think taking the dose this morning would have been better

I missed a dose and even stopped mine early. I missed one around 10 weeks and just took the next one as prescribed.

Then I stopped it at 11 weeks rather than 12 due to side effects with the OK from my dr. I'm sureyou're just fine hun :hugs:

I'm on progestrone since conception day to week 15 (twice daily). I think its ok to miss a dose don't worry. I prefer inserting it rectally its easier & with less discharge

thank you everyone!

girlnextdoor: i read that most women are weaned off by now bc the placenta should be taking over. i also think that since i have been on it since 4 1/2 weeks that the level should be high enough that missing it one time wont make a difference. my ob never discussed when to come off if it though and i still have another 4 months of refills.

autumntx: i also agree that everyone is different. since progesterone helps build up the placenta to begin with until it takes over, i think i should be around that stage...who could be sure though?!

peacelovebaby: what kind of side effects did you get?

hope222: i never knew you could do it rectally! i was going to try orally but it kind of freaked me even though i know they are the same pills. lol

I had HORRIBLE yeast infections the whole time I was on it :( I finally just had to stop it..went long enough for it to do its job anyways :) (for me, that is)

I missed a dose while taking it all was fine! just take it as per usual tonight! No worries love!

I agree. Missing a dose probably isnt so bad, I would call the dr just to make sure.

What were your side effects?

Very bad yeast infections..just couldn't deal with it anymore.

i have been itchy down there lately, mostly at night or when i wipe. i was thinking probably yeast infection or thrush, but ive never had either so i am not sure.

It could be that..i didn't have any funky discharge (sorry lol) but I was SOOOO itchy..it seriously used to wake me up. I was miserable as it burned and itched so bad. hormone replacement therapy will do that to you quite often. I would suggest trying to eat lots of yogurt..that would help me slightly. But it went away completely with a small bit of cream prescribed by my dr applied externally and stopping the progesterone.

Good luck..hang in there. xx
