Ladies.....TTC #1

Thanks Lola!! Flashing smiley this morning finally!
Everyone enjoy your weekend!

Wound up testing Thursday bc i didn't want the excitement of my bfp at the same time of my anxiety for a new job interview. Tested negative and af came Friday right before hopping on a plane to an interview. Life sucked Friday :(

Sorry about AF, JJ! It's really awful that our bodies are built so that early pregnancy symptoms are exactly the same as pre-af symptoms. It's not fair!

I hope your interview went well in spite of it.

I'm 8dpo today. I took an ic hpt yesterday morning knowing that it would be negative (way too early) just so I would feel comfortable figuring out which end was up, what the control line looks like, etc. They look like good tests: I didn't see any evap lines afterwards, so there should be nothing to confused me when I test for real.

No symptoms for me. How are you doing, Lola?

Wish2b, sounds like you'll be having a great weekend.:winkwink:

Hi ladies !
Sorry about your bad Friday jj.. I'm out too, as came this morning.. Cycle was 26 days and according to FF, my Lp was only 10 days long.. It's short right? I'm going to temp again and see for cycle 4..
I just started a new job too it kept my head out of it.
Lesli I guess it was too early to test yes! Soon!
How about you wish2be? What's up?

Interview did go well, thanks. I am lucky to have 2 positive job choices. Both very different, but both great careers. My current one gives alot of flexibility, such as 3-4 day week. Which I love if I get pregnant. The other a strict 8-5 mon-fri. Seems intimidating bc I would want to be home more when and if my baby is born...

I'm sorry AF got you both!! Here's to the next cycle, free of new jobs and other tough decisions.
Sounds like you have a wonderful opportunity in front of you jj! That's really great! I love my job most days and the best part is I work from home. There are other women in the company who have had babies since I've been here and I can tell that it's helpful to WFH vs the 8-5 at the office job. I actually didn't go for a different position earlier this year, though it sounded REALLY interesting, b/c the travel would have to increase and that just wouldn't work late in a pregnancy and afterwards. So I'm sure you'll choose which one works best for you and your situation!

Got a positive smiley on the CBAD yesterday, so BD'ed last night, will tonight. Then tomorrow I leave for an overnight business trip, so that'll be it. I would assume last night and tonight would be the best timing, anyway. Maybe I can squeeze another out of DH tomorrow morning for good measure!! ;)

mrshan - 9dpo today, right? feeling anything new?
lola - 10 days is right at the cusp - I believe it's ok but anything under, they say is short and you may want to talk to a doc. I'm right there too - 10-11 day LP. I should O tomorrow and I usually have a 29 day cycle. I'm due for AF on 4/26.

My temp dropped this morning, but still above my coverline, so I'm 50/50 thinking that I'm out, but hoping that I still have a chance. I know I'm not out until AF gets me!

Sorry about AF, Lola, but it's a new cycle and another chance to catch your eggy. I think that temping is so helpful- I can't believe that I waited so long to start!

Yay for +OKPs and lots of BD, Wish2B. I have my FX that going on your business trip will help- I watched a documentary years ago about sex and conception, and men's bodies will subconsciously produce lots of sperm before their partners go on a trip without them so that no other men can impregnate their women. It's all wired in from when humans were a lot more promiscuous. So  for lots of swimmers! :haha:

thanks, mrshan!! hahaha that's just funny to think about - man, our bodies have their own plans, huh?

your chart looks so good! maybe today is an implantation dip!

It's bizzare. They found that sperm can also be deliberately deformed so they kink up their tails, making it harder for "enemy" sperm to infiltrate and get to the egg. I love science. I'm such a nerd. :)

Happy thought that it's implantation dip. Since this is my first full cycle temping, I'm not used to the ups and downs on my chart.

love it - I love science too, more and more as I get older. I'm embracing my nerdiness as well!

oh right! first time temper - yep, you can get a temp drop at implantation, and another spike the following day. I don't know that this happens for everyone, but really - what 'common' things DO happen to us early enough to let us know we're preg? NOTHING!! thus, we are crazy during the tww.

No kidding. It could just be a temp did just because it was the first night without the winter blanket on since the house was warm.

Your chart looks good Lesli ! I also think it could be an implantation dip. fingers crossed !

hi ladies, I will be ttc ~#1 in dec and am 34. do you think I should do the OPKs and temp charting straight away or just go with the flow and see what happens. Given my age I am worried if I don't chart it will take much longer. Thanks for any replies!! am so excited its finally nearly our time. babydust to you all

I love charting and OPKs b/c it gives you a lot of data to go with. If you're having trouble conceiving, it gives you insight into what your body is doing or isn't doing. It gives you an exact picture of when you DID ovulate, how long your luteal phase is. You could start now to get the hang of it, or a couple months ahead of time. It takes a little bit to learn what you're reading and making sure you take it at the same time everyday (and the affects on your temp if you don't), etc.

Thanks wish2b i think i will then. Have you been trying long? I also have Endo so that could affect the length of time it takes. Do you print out a fertility chart?

Hi missN8 ! I would temp too, like wish2be said, you'll know better about yourself. It could be fast but could take time to conceive, we never know.. I hope you get lucky ;)

We decided to actually try in Oct of 2013, but were kinda floundering around as to what that really meant, had some stressful holidays, etc. So I started OPKs and focusing on timing and body signals in Jan. Turns out we were BD'ing a week too early! So temping started in Feb, OPKs too. Got the hang of it in March and it's been going well since.

I don't print them out - if you go to Fertilityfriend.com, you can track your temp, OPKs and other tests and signs online (they even have an app)! it's very handy and if you sign up for the 'VIP' (this costs money but you get it for the first month for free, but there is a basic one for free you can continue on after the first month; I personally enjoy the VIP so I paid the $17 for 3 months I think) you can add in all of your signs and tests and it will analyze a lot of things for you - fertility, when you ovulate, top early preg signs you are experiencing, etc.

Always feel free to ask questions too! I've found most everyone on this site is super helpful and very willing to share experiences, tips and lessons learned! :flower:

Hi lola thanks i know i wont know my body at all been on pill so long. Wish2b thanks i just downloaded fertility app on my phone roll on winter well nit really as wanna enjoy summer warm weather too. I hope it doesn't take long to start ovulating i heard the pill can affect ovulation if taking it long term

I was on the pill for 14 years or so, and I just went off last July when we started TTC. Last cycle was the first one I temped, and I had a temp increase that said I O'd. I haven't confirmed with OPKs yet, but I plan on doing that this summer. :) I think once you get over the weird cycle lengths at the beginning of getting off bcp, you're okay.

Hi mrshan thanks for the info ive heard some people get preggo straight away i will just have wait and see. Has anyone started buying baby items yet or waiting to get pregnant?
