So after TTC for a year and half now I'm due to have a lap in the morning and although I know that something needs to be done as all the failed months bring too many tears I'm reallly scared:argh:
I'm petrified of the general anaesthetic and as much as i so want that :bfp: I am cr@pping myself over it:help:
I'm wondering if any of you lovely ladies have words of advice if you've been through this - also how long you were in pain/off work/'til you could:sex: again
:flower: and lots of :dust:

Hi, really don't worry about it, you'll not feel anything. I took a week off although hospital gave me two, first day out I was tired and walking around hunched up, struggled to get up out of chair, off bed etc but just took paracetomol for first day or two, rest of week I gradually improved, worked a little from home, was just week and wary of having my tummy knocked, stitches didn't come out for ages, after a month or so I put a bit of witch Hazel on and they dropped out, I have two tiny scars now and absolutely no pain. You'll be fine, least you'll know what's what afterwards.

Hi, I had a lap, dye and od 7 weeks ago.

When I woke up I was sore but ok. I stayed in overnight due to sickness/dizziness from the anaesthetic. The next day I was able to get up and walk around, so I went home. I was sore for a few days, mainly due to the gas they pumped into my abdomen. I struggled with getting up and down but painkillers helped. After 3-4 days I was up and about, with minimal pain. I returned to work after a week.

It was sore for a few days but it's so worth having it done. Just think of that BFP!!

Good luck
:hugs:

Hi Im sure you will be fine!!! I had a lap & dye a year ago, it was sore and i had to stop in hospital overnight but after a week I was fine!! I also conceived literally days after the lap & dye!!! after not getting pregnant after a year and half!! they didnt find anything but i think i must have had small blockages and the dye flushed me out!! Good Luck and as soon as your feeling upto it get BD-ing!!! And make sure OH looks after, you and waits on u hand and foot!!

Hi, I think by the time you read this, you would have had your lap and dye, :hugs:, hope it went ok. I had mine in July, never had a general anethestic before, I cried when I got into theatre, I was petrified! I hope the nurses were as lovely and reassuring to you as they were to me. With me, they also removed a fibroid, so I was extra sore. It took me about 10 days to get over it, and I felt very tired for a few days. As for :sex:, about a week, but very gently!!

I hope you are back on your feet soon, :hugs: xx

I have a silly question what's the difference between lap & die test bs HSG test?

Sorry for the ignorance

HSG is done like a smear, it's an xray and your not under general anaesthetic, Lap and Dye is key hole surgery carried out under GA.

In both instances they inject dye in your tubes and watch to see if it spills out, the lap and dye allows them to put on more pressure plus they can take action if required whilst they are inside.

I hope it all went well!

If anyone else is reading this, laps can give you very little pain assuming it was jsut a look around one.. if they cut out endo or anything, then it can be a lot worse feeling. My first was agony (literally) with 60mg's of codine barely touching it for a week, then lots of pain for another 2, then slowly recovering after that. The second was jsut to tidy stuff up with only a tiny bit cut out - That was easy in comparision with about 5 days til I was easily comfortable and 2 til I was back to normal.

I also had my lap & Dye in July and it wasn't nearly as bad i worked myself up for. You are sore afterwards and i stupidly believed i could go back to work after a couple of days but needed a week off to recover. It was more tiredness that kept me off and it was more of an ache than a pain. Like really bad period pains.

I hope everything went well and you get your BFP soon xx

Thank you soooooo much ladies for your kind words :hugs::flower:
Well it is all now behind me and although i cried all the way through pre op and post op and even before that as was petrified about the whole thing I am just relieved it's out the way - the worst part at the moment is the shoulder pain from the gas that is pumped into you:nope: really cr@ppy
I have 2 cuts - one near my belly button where the gas went in and the other by my bikini line. Have not yet had a bath as still v tender
Also the dye that was administered has not been coming out that much:nope: i have some light bleeding (tmi:blush:) don't know if will increase??
Anyway the upshot is that my tubes were clear which is great but still makes me  as to why it is taking SO long to TTC - anyway the consultant said he'll see me in 6 weeks to discuss the next stage - here's hoping:thumbup:
Anyway thanks again its great to know that you're not alone in all this:hugs:
PS - got DH doing all the:dishes::hangwashing::iron::haha:

Great to hear that everything went great!!!!! Especially that everything is clear!!!!! So fx for that BFP!!!!!! So excited for u!!!!

Fantastic news!!!!! Make sure you do the deed this month, hopefully the dye has cleared you out and you can get your BFP!!!!!!

The soreness goes fairly quickly and you'll soon be back to normal but OH doesn't need to know this, milk it for all you can!!!!!
