lap & dye

I've had quite a bit of shoulder pain. Most of the time, when it hurts, it feels like someone punched me really hard in the shoulder. When it hurts, I can't sleep on it, and have to hold still and sit up to make it feel better.

My jaw sounds like your shoulder - hurts if I press lightly on it.

I've been able to get up on my own since I got home. Even the night of my surgery, I could get out of bed without help. Help helped a lot, though, sometimes, but I didn't have to have it. I feel like I'm very blessed with how well this has gone.

I don't remember....how many incisions do you have? Did they do a lot in there?

Have you tried googling about an open incision? It does seem odd to me, but what do I know? :) Is it supposed to just close up on its own?

i wonder why your jaw hurts? i have 3 incisions. one on my bikini line, one up a little higher than that and to the right and then the belly button. he removed a cyst on my ovary, shot dye through my tubes and removed a polyp in my cervix. my husband said i was in surgery for about an hour and a half. the other two incisions dont hurt at all. just pain around the belly button. i think that's why i still have trouble getting up on my own. why did you have your lap done?

I'm not sure about my jaw....my only guess is that the oxygen mask was a little tight. Doesn't seem to hurt today, though.

I wonder if you're having a more difficult time than me because of what you had done? I have 3 incisions...similar in placement to yours. Mine was diagnostic, and they found and treated quite a bit of endo. I also had the dye part. I wonder if the fact that you had something removed from your cervix makes a difference. Don't know...just a guess :)

Thankyou so much for these posts! I'm a bit of a baby when it comes to things like this and I'm sure DH thought I was milking it when I said I will need time off work and some serious TLC once I've had my lap & dye. I showed him this thread last night and now he believes me!!!

i'm glad he believes you!! everyone says it's not that big of a deal, and i guess looking back it's not too bad but when you're going through it, it is a huge deal! when do you have your procedure done?

I'm glad he believes you, too! It's not a walk in the park :)

Courtney (??) - how are you feeling?

much better thanks! still afraid i'm going to rip open my belly button but the other two incisions are closed. and i can finally get up and down with ease! how are you doing? so what do you think is next for us? what happens now? i don't see my doc again until next friday...i can't wait to talk to him and find out!!

I'm glad you're doing much better and that you can move around easily!!

I'm doing pretty well, thanks. Went to work today..only 3.5 hours..came home and slept for 2 :) Then cooked dinner. Got dizzy at the end and my DH had to finish it. I've been sitting pretty much since then....think I need to slowly work back up to real life.

I don't know what is next, and it's frustrating! Did they say anything to you about bd'ing this cycle? I wonder if I'll ovulate like usual.....and if so, if I can bd so this month isn't a total loss. I plan to call the doctor tomorrow.

Beyond that, I wonder if I'll be back on meds, but I just don't know. I too meet with my doctor next Friday...and I'll have a ton of questions for him!

Have you been on meds....Clomid...injections?

I'm waiting for the hospital to send me the appointment. Probably won't be until February.

i tried to go back to work today and got dizzy after taking a shower, i think you're right...we need to ease ourselves back into it. i don't think i'm up to BDing this cycle, i think it's too late anyway since it's day 18 for me. i don't know if the procedure affects ovulation or not.

my gyno prescribed the clomid 50 mg in sept. i took it on days 3-7 and at that time i saw the RE. the clomid is what gave me the cyst on my ovary! it makes me so angry! my RE says he doesn't like to prescribe clomid any more specifically for this reason! so basically my RE has been trying to fix my gyno's mistake since then. well, to be fair i'm sure she thought she was helping but i feel like if she hadn't prescribed that and had just referred me to the RE i would be way ahead of the game by now....who knows! but that's the only meds i've been on. have you been on injectables?

hang in there! does the doc have you doing anything in the meantime? is it a diagnostic lap and dye or did they find something?

I hear ya on the dizzy thing! I got dizzy in the shower a couple of days ago, too. And last night while making dinner. Too much too soon, I guess.

Do you have any pain from the gas? My shoulder and rib cage (right side for both) still hurt and the nurse said it could last a couple of weeks. Booo!

I did 5 cycles of Clomid (50,100,100,150,100) and 3 cycles of injections (FSH and HCG..and the last cycle they threw in 100mg of Clomid, to help lengthen my LP). Looking back, I wish I would've done the lap sooner as those meds did help (ultrasounds showed follicles) but the endo must've prevented me from getting my BFP. Who knows. I have gotten cysts, too, on injections, so they aren't a perfect fix either. Those cysts have always gone away on their own, however.

Did you call in to work today? Will you try to go back tomorrow? I ended up staying home today due to the pain from the CO2, but plan to go back tomorrow.

How are you feeling today?

i have had no pain from the gas, he had said he would try and suck out as much as he could so i guess he did a good job. he's one of the top RE in the nation so i guess he knows what he's doing! LOL i went back to work today, and i am exhausted! mostly because i haven't had to use my back muscles so my back is sore from sitting up instead of kicking back in a recliner. i actually slept on my side last night! WOOHOO!! small victories i guess.

Diagnostic. I ovulate at least some of the time and my internal scan was good, hubby's SA was AMAZING!! But I was given chlamydia about 11 years ago so doctor won't give me anything until he knows whether or not I have damage and/or blockages. I'm glad I won't have it this side of Christmas, last thing I want is to be feeling rough that time of year! Glad you ladies are on the mend! :hugs:

That's awesome that you had such a wonderful doctor! I like mine, too, but I wouldn't say he's one of the top :)

Are you feeling better and better each day?

i sure am! incisions are starting to scab over, can move normally...life is good again! how are you feeling? did you ask your doc if you could try this cycle?

I'm glad you're doing better!! I'm doing good, too. Haven't felt the CO2 pains since Tuesday....can move normally, only minimal discomfort...like if my pants rub up against my incisions or something.

I did ask and the nurse said that the doctor usually tells people to wait 2 weeks. So, 2 weeks it is....which sticks, b/c I'm on CD 13 today and I hate to miss a month!

Hi ladies, Just a quick couple of questions, I am 5 days post op and I have woken up early today with cramping in my torso it even made me feel a bit sick, have you experienced this? Also have any of you had you AF yet, mine is soo heavy, I am hoping this is normal after this procedure? I was told so many things by my consultant afterwards but the effects af the anesthetic have made me forget most of it, I think he did mention about having a heavy period but this is so nasty, I am glad I am at the end of it now. How soon after your op did you go back to work? I don't think I am quite ready to go back to work on Monday. Do you think I could get a sick note from my own Doctors for this? Thanks x

Quick update! I got my appointment through - 30th December!!! So Happy New Year for Nelly. Work isn't happy as it means I'll be unavailable for the whole New Year period but that can't be helped.
It'll be day 30 of my cycle so I've been told not to have unprotected sex this month as obviously the lap & dye will abort any pregnancy anyway so I get to drink myself silly at Christmas and not worry about what harm I could be doing.
I wasn't nervous about it at all until I got the appointment through. Now I am!!

I've read that AF can be quite a bit heavier than usual after a lap...even with clots.

I went back to work (half days) 5 days after my lap, and that was probably a bit too early as I stayed home the next day. One week to the day after my lap, I felt quite good, and that has continued. My energy felt normal 'n stuff.

It seems like your doctor would give you a a sick note, but I don't know?
