lap & dye

Glad you got your appointment, Nelly! Sorry the timing is so crazy, but at least it'll be done, right? :)

Feel free to ask questions! Several of us have had laps recently and I'm sure would be happy to try to alleviate any fears you may have!

I shall see how I feel tomorrow, I think mentally I might need a bit extra time, I think I over did it today a little but I am resting now and am feeling better :)

My main concern is the anaesthetic! I haven't had one since I was a kid and you hear all these horror stories about people waking up while they're meant to be under. Just my luck that I'll be one of them! Plus I do NOT do well with needles, I've just about overcome my fear enough to deal with the endless blood tests but this time it'll be staying in there for more than a few seconds and I'm pretty grossed out about it!!!

The timing isn't the greatest but I'd rather have it done sooner than later and it means I get New Year's Eve off for the first time since I started this job 10 years ago:happydance:, not that I'm expecting to be in any condition to enjoy it.
I've read on more than one site that peppermint tea is good for the shoulder pain so I'll get some of that (whether I can bring myself to drink it is another thing!) I think I'm mentally all prepared for it as much as I can be. Just have to wait!

Nelly you will be fine I was pretty much scared of everything including needles and to be honest it isn't that bad at all xx

Hi ladies, Just a quick couple of questions, I am 5 days post op and I have woken up early today with cramping in my torso it even made me feel a bit sick, have you experienced this? Also have any of you had you AF yet, mine is soo heavy, I am hoping this is normal after this procedure? I was told so many things by my consultant afterwards but the effects af the anesthetic have made me forget most of it, I think he did mention about having a heavy period but this is so nasty, I am glad I am at the end of it now. How soon after your op did you go back to work? I don't think I am quite ready to go back to work on Monday. Do you think I could get a sick note from my own Doctors for this? Thanks x

i had that feeling the day i went back to work (i had surgery on friday and went back wednesday) but it went away. i think it was just that the inner muscles are still a bit weak. i'm on day 22 so we'll see about the period...are yours normally heavy? my doc didn't mention it.

i am also terrified of needles, i started crying as soon as they made me put on the gown. the nurses were super sweet...i dont think anybody likes needles so they're used to it. to be honest, yeah, the waiting sucks, i was a nervous wreck the entire time. and you know what? nothing terrible happened! i was afraid of being intubated and of going under because i was sure i was going to wake up, i cried everytime someone asked me a question, cried while they wheeled me into the OR....woke up in recovery feeling drunk. i had no pain from the gas. and slept most of the next few days. i know you're nervous and scared, and the only thing i can say is read Lizzy's story, that's pretty much exactly how it happens. try to calm down, i had myself so worked up that my blood pressure ran high that whole week and then i was freaked out about that ...vicious cycle. you'll be just fine, if you have any questions just ask us!

hello ladies i had my lap and dye on friday morning so just going to take the bandages off today as they said to remove them after 2 days im pretty nervous of what the wound will look like im quite slight made up and my belly is quite swollen but havent been too sore just a bit uncomfortrable getting out of bed or up from lying so prefer to walk about im feeling very well and my outcome was that everything was normal good news but still puzzled as to why i havent fell pregnant any guesses as i have been told i ovulate as progesterone was 35 so i am stumped but still really pleased there wasnt anything diseased or wrong. my tubes r both clear and ds semen is top stuff lol any ideas what i will be offered next do they still give u clomid even if u ovulate naturally??

Echoing tink:- I'm apprehensive about the lap itself but I'm more worried that they'll find nothing wrong! Sounds silly doesn't it? To want something to be wrong? At least then there's a good reason why I haven't fallen pg, if they can't find anything where do they go from there?

If you ovulate normally they won't give you clomid. Are you seeing a reproductive endocrinologist or just your gyno?

just my gynae consultant so far he wants me to see him again in 6 weeks time i feel very positive just wonder what will be next for us

i would suggest an RE, my gyno did lab work, and internal ultrasound...said everything was fine, but since it had been a year she referred me to an RE, turns out i have low thyroid, insulin resistance, and i had a polyp that could have been preventing implantation. i'm so glad i requested a referral!
