Hiya Ladies
Having my laparoscopy on the 18th of july:nope:
Just wondered if anyone knew how long it takes to recover cause some people are saying a week some people are saying two weeks!

Im just checking as I am going to be signed off work for it and my work are a bit of a pain so I dont really want to take more than a week, but then again dont wanna be in pain at work :growlmad:

any ideas or info would be very helpfull :)

What type of work do you do?

If you sit at a desk, 1 week might be okay.

If you are carrying heavy things or on your feet a lot, I'd try for 2 weeks.

My doc said I'd be okay to go to college classes after a few days, and there was no way I could have done that.

Good luck.

Hi there, I took a week off work then went back but just take it easy. You should be fine after a week x

Im a Health care assistant/ dispenser, so not really heavy lifting but it a busy pharmacy and never sit down once at work dont have time to! Think im just gunna ask for a week and see how I go and if I need more time speak to my gp! thanks! :)

I was back to work (desk job) after 3 days, the only problem after the 3 days was a gassy feeling which lasted a couple of weeks. You should be fine to go back to work in a week.

x.kim.x.b - the surgeon signed me off for 2 weeks because I had few things done during the lap, but I went back to work (desk job) after 1 week. I was a bit sore but it was bearable. Guess it depends on how individual bodies recover and also how much work they end up doing in there (I know someone who was fine after 3 days because they just had a "look" and didn't have anything else done) - afterwards you may be fine on the outside but inside you may still be healing. Since your job is more active I'd probably ask for 2 weeks off just in case, then you can go back earlier if you feel up to it...

hey honey! i think its different for everyone really!
i spend a whole week not being able to make it down stairs, and eventually at the end of the second week went back to work!
but my partners sister was off for a month in the end!!!

i hope you have a quick recovery and everything goes well!!
and make sure you take as much rest as you need, dont overdo it xxx
