Hi Ladies,

Today when I saw my fs, she mentioned that my tube removal would be one of these two methods AND that depending on my weight they decide which method to go by.

Has anyone hear of this before? AND What method of removal did you have?

Thank you so much!!!

Sorry to hear you require tube removal. I have not underwent this procedure however a laparotomy is a big procedure in itself. A laparotomy will require a much longer recovery period as i know in the uk you can't drive for at least 6 weeks. I am pretty sure that any consultant would advise laparoscopy first and foremost before a laparotomy where possible, however if due to weight and any other contributing factors the latter might be required.

Hope that helps

:hugs:

Hey Blue,
*hugs*
I had a laparoscopy, but they said I had a 90% chance of needing laparotomy due to previous surgery. I was incredibly lucky, but planned 5 weeks off uni just in case. I'd go for laparoscopy (i recovered so much better than with previous laparotomies - felt 99% within a week) - but there is always a small chance they might need to convert to a laparotomy if things get tricky. Because of my previous abdominal surgeries I had a colorectal surgeon and a fertility specialist doing my surgery, and in my case I think that is why they *just* managed to do it laparoscopically. I have seen laparoscopic surgeries on women of all sizes........

xx

Wishing you all the best love & let me know if I can help with any other questions

Hi Ladies,

I have had a laparoscopy done twice, once to have a tubal reversal and another to have a second look at my tubes.
My gyno said that because the tubes are so tiny and the fact that I have very little body (tummy) fat that a laparoscopy is all I would need, however if he couldn't get to my tubes then I would need the other.
Most larger women need the Laparotomy due to excess tummy fat and the fact the tubes are so small, but in saying that some skinny women have needed one also.
I am sure they will try by Laparoscopy first before they go the other way.

Good luck with your IVF and TTC, wishing you all the best :hugs:
