Hi all I've been away for a while, still TTC but just wanted to pop on for some reassurances and to hear some of your experiences I guess.

DH and I have been TTC for 2 years now with 1 miscarriage at 5 weeks back in March. We've been going to the fertility clinic for a year now and we know I'm ovulating fine and DH has plenty of healthy sperm so now next Tuesday I'm off for a laporoscopy to check my tubes are all fine - I had an emergency C-section with my son so they are worried that there could be "sticky" bits there that are stopping the sperm and egg from meeting, they also suspect that the miscarriage I had was due to it being an eptopic pregnancy but thats something that we will never know for sure.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone else has had this procdure or knows of anyone that has and that this has then sorted any problems there might have been and have gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?

i just PM you..

hi i had it last night, had to stay in overnight. i had a lap, HSG ( where they put dye in) and a Hysterocopy ( up thru the vagina) .i dint not know i was having the last two, so i was a bit shocked.

i had a general and they gave me morphine as well. was a bit naseaus last night but slept most of the evening..

today my stomach is a but sore and im beginning to get pain in my shoulder - which is normal. its not very painful. it come and goes so they are going to give me pain killers

but please dont be worried - easy to say i know.
i was surprised to be told i had endometriosis and may not be able to concieve naturally...im very surprsied as always had regular periods - albeit light- im 38 dont know if that has anything to do with it. i do not have any syptoms !

is there anything in specific you want to know? i guess i will fiind out more today when the doc comes to see me and also how im feeling.

p.s i went private...dont know if that is relevant or not
good luck xx

if u want any more info pm me..

Hi, had lap and dye two days ago. A bit sicky afterwards and dizzy but felt fine after a good nights sleep. Haven't had much pain at all, a little sting where the incisions are but nothing else. Haven't had wind pains, must be lucky. I came out of hospital the same day. Was told that my tubes are definitely blocked and there seemed to be some inflammation on one of the tubes. Got to see consultant in 6 weeks, which seems forever, so dont know the outcome yet.
Dont worry its not as bad as you think, just take it easy!!
Will let you know more when i do :)
All the best x

Thanks!
My hubby as the day of the procedure and the next day off work plus my Mum is coming up for the week as well as I have a 4 year old son from my first marriage so my Mum is gonna be here to look after him and take him to school and stuff.
I'm sure it'll be fine just a bit worried as to what they might find! This could be the end of our 2 year ttc journey!

i know how u feel, but u have to try and remain positive. Have you considered ivf?

I have had 2 laps and they really aren't that big of a deal. I have heard if they find and correct something during the procedure then immediately afterwards your chances of conceiving increase by 75% or something.

Muncho - if you have endo then usually after the lap is the best time to conceive if they removed the endo which I would assume they did.

Good luck to you all.

As we both have children from previous relationships we've already been told that we won't get ivf on the NHS and there is no way we could afford to pay for it ourselves so if they do find a major problem then thay'll be it for us!

Im in the same boat, as i already have a child wont get it free. Its so expensive so im not sure what we will do if ivf is suggested. Fingers crossed!! All the best x

wilmums and piggin teacher.... just had a thought, may not be practical but have you considered IVF abroad? turkey for example is a 1/4 of the cost here. if you have kids it may not be practical but maybe worth looking into?

hi
hope you dont mind me throwing in my two pence worth but check out ivf in norway i have had correspondance with them they seem very professional and at £1800 for treatment and a hoilday to boot its worth looking at. Let me know what you think we are probablt going to make the call this week. I had a lap and dye last thursday-everything ok but because of my age they suggested ivf straight away. at the minute its between care manchester, the lister london and norway
good luck xx

glitterqueen ~ have u tried assisted conception unit in london. they are V good. Paul Serha is the clincial director there and has been on tv loads xx

Just thought I'd pop on here quick to let you know I had my lap and dye test yesterday - still feeling pretty sore - its the cut in my belly button thats giving me gip - as long as I don't move its OK! Lol!!!

But the upshot of it is that everything looks fine and dandy outside - no "sticky" bits or endometritis but my tubes look a bit "crinkly" apparently! There is a way through - they got the dye through on both sides although it took a couple of attempts on the left but thats the side I ovulated from when I had the mc so its looking more likely that that was eptopic and there was something leftover from that blocking the tube! But all is clear now both sides. So we have the option of continuing to try naturally or to go for IVF and if/when I do get preg then I'll be closely monitored early on to make sure its not eptopic cause of my tubes!

So I guess its not all doom and gloom - theres good and bad but at least there is a way and a possibility of it happening naturally for us!

I'm so glad it was generally good news and if they have managed to get the dye through clearing a blockage, that might do the trick and get you the :bfp:! A very wise woman (wish2bmama!) told me yesterday that we should consider the dye as a kind of full strength drain cleaner which will make our tubes sparkling new ready for the eggies and spermies. I love that thought and after my lap last week, its really giving me hope.

Hope you feel better soon - it took me about a week to be fullly right again - and all the best for next month. :dust: to you!!!

Thank you for that - thats a great way to think about the dye!!
I've got my Mum here to help me with my 4 year old till Friday lunchtime so I'm hoping the soreness and lack of movement eases soon - at the moment I'm OK if I don't move but getting up, sitting down and generally walking around are pretty uncomfortable which could cause a bit of a problem when it comes to picking the monster up from school on friday!!!

Does anyone know if having a Lap will effect yr cycle at all? AF is due for me next week so I was wondering whether I would still ovulate as normal next cycle?

hi, my cons said it wouldnt change anything, but im due AF next week so i can let you know. It better not affect Ov next cycle coz im expecting my BFP by early jan then i dont need to start IVF :)

Still got my AF ontime after lap even though I had a D+C as well!
One of my tubes i twisted and blocked probably because of the chronic infection they found.
My scar is in my bellybutton too - i had loads of bruising around it but healed quickly. :)
